unning saint girl. She is a great dog and we adore her. She is still young and not even a year old yet. She has come through so much and really deserves a good home for the rest of her life. She is a great girl and absolutely stunning. She is a great girl and we adore her. She is going to make someone an amazing pet. She just wants to be loved and cuddled. She has come through so much and we know that she is going to make someone a great dog. We adore her and she truly grows on you in a short time. She has come so far and we just want to see her get better and better. She is a stunning white girl with brown spots and some black on her face. She has natural ears and tail and is a doll. Andy and Ann came to us from high kill shelter in southern Ca. They were turned in by their owners who did not have time to care for them and did not seem to have any intention to care for them either. The two dogs were in horrific shape. They were less then half their recommended body weight. Scared, full of fleas and infection, and was missing most of their hair. They also had clearly been abused and the brother and sister had been bred together. It was a mess. Luckly the shelter is an amazing one and we love working with them. They are great dogs and we know the deserve a great home and a family that loves them. We WILL NOT PUT THEM IN THE SAME HOME! Siblings deserve a chance to be their own dog, and they are so fearful with each other and sister beats up on brother that they need their own families. Ann is a darling girl who just wants to be loved. She has come from such a rough start that she knows what a good home really is worth. She is a happy playful girl and the more she feels better the more playful she gets. She is a great dog and we adore her. She loves to hang out, is great with people and loves other dogs. She does good as an only dog or part of a pack. She has even done well with the few cats she has been exposed to. We think she would do well with kids, but not small kids under 5 as she does not watch where she goes. A kid with large dog experience who is ok being knocked over would likely do well. She is a great dog who really just wants to be loved and have a forever home. Ann is up to date, dewormed, flea treated, and altered. She is a happy healthy girl who just needs to continue gaining weight as she came to us very emaciated. She had big bald patches from her condition and flea infestations. She is now a happy healthy girl who just needs a home that will love her. She is working on house breaking, doing great with crate training, and does ok on leash. She is working on basic commands, and is very food motivated. So she learns fast if cookies are involved. She is an amazing girl who is just looking for a forever home. Her hair has come in soft and is growing back thicker then ever. She is a doll. She loves attention and her wounds are all healed. She has come so far and we love her. She just needs a family that will help her heart heal as well as her body. She is a great dog and loves attention and to be where ever her family is. We spend a lot of time trying to get to know the dogs in our program as best as we can. This means that we have spent time introducing them to dogs, cats, kids, animals, people and as many things as we can. We try to do as much as we can to evaluate them, both with in our group and if the dogs come from other rescues or shelters their evaluations as well. However dogs are individuals and will react to different situations differently. This means that we do not know how a dog will react in every situation. We give out our best guess based off information provided but the handler of a dog and the way they are introduced to a situation makes a huge impact. So if you have any questions of how to introduce a dog to your home, please let us know and we will provide as much info as we can from pamphlets to helping find a trainer in your area. Our rescue aims to help dogs who are passed by and over looked by most rescues and people. We help the dogs who are in need of medical care, vetting, training and breeds that most will not help with. In most shelters if you are large dog, a big dog, or a male dog; from the moment you walk in you are on barrowed time. If you have docked ears or are a guardian breed your time was over before you walked in the doors. We aim to save these dogs and give them a second chance. Please help us save more lives by helping with our medical bills as they grow. This year has already been hard and we have many medical dogs in need. https://www.gofundme.com/v2eap2f8 If you would like to adopt this pet please send us an email. Applications will be sent to you via email. We do our best to get back to emails in 24 hrs. If it has been longer then that please resend another email. We would love to hear from you. We welcome any questions that you may have. Our goal is to find the right fit for every home, not just any home! We have been informed that some of the links to email us regarding our adoptable dogs are not working. This has been on going for a few weeks with petfinder and a few other links. If you find this to be an issue that you are having please send an email directly to us at: RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com If you are inquiring on a specific pet we do ask that you put the name of the pet in the subject line. So we know who it is that you are inquiring regarding. Thank you in advance for understanding as we work through this. As with any rescue we are always in need of donations. MANY of our dogs come in with special needs or medical issues. These need to be resolved before going home. If you would like to make a donation toward a dogs medical care you can use our paypal address RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com you can also email us for a physical address. We are always in need of dog food, soft food for some of our special needs dogs, collars, leashes, crates, and toys!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
