ll 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. I’m a very friendly guy who just loves belly rubs, giving kisses and being in laps! I’m also ready for a walk any time you are! My former owner gave me up due to her health and I’m glad that MM’s could take me in. I got to go home with one of the volunteers for a day trip recently and I met her cat and dogs. They were all nice and I liked all of them! I was friendly and respectful of the kitty and sniffed and played with the dogs once we got to know each other. I’ve also met a few dogs at MM’s and we all think I’d do well with other older dogs that may like to play a little, but not all the time, so if you have a dog at home, let’s meet. I have a bit of a busy nature and I do like checking everything out, but just pick me up and I’ll melt into you. I’m looking forward to being in a home again very soon as that’s what I’m used to. I’d like a stay or work from home family member who I can hang out with. My former mom said that I had some anxieties, but I don’t remember what they were. I’m guessing a stay at home family member would help though. I’m mostly potty trained, but do have some accidents on the shelter schedule, so please take me out on a good regular schedule. At the MM shelter, I’ve been good for my baths and a blow dry too if you’d like to blow dry me. I also met a nice 10-year-old boy at the MM facility and did well with him, so responsible kids that age or older could be a nice fit for me. I do have a history of bolting out of open doors and gates so make sure kids would use caution in that area with me as I don’t want to get lost or hurt. Maybe I need a bit more exercise than I previously got, or maybe I just like going places, either way, please be careful around doors and gates. I am working on this and other mutt manners in the Mostly Mutts University training program, and I have mastered ‘sit’, ‘lie down’, ‘come’, ‘go to your place’, and loose leash walking so far. I’m a great little dog looking for a great family to love! Energy level: 5-7. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered and my adoption fee is $275.00.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
