ANOTHER DOG IN YOUR HOME. MAGOO IS A PUPPY, DOB: 4/24/16. NO OUT OF STATE - IF INTERESTED GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT: www.animalsrule.org and read our adoption process link. An application of interest is your first step in the process. Meet Magoo. Just about the cutest puppy ever! He was dropped off in a box at one of our Vets offices. It took us a few days to figure out that he was blind. Really, you would never know.... He had us fooled. Magoo is healthy and his eyes have developed normally, he just cant see out of them. Magoo is an amazing dog, quite independent too. He has completely memorized the lay of the land at his foster home. He plays well with all the other dogs in the home and uses his ears and sense of smell to get around. He loves being with other dogs and will bond with them quickly. Its amazing to watch. He can hear you walk and will just follow you. Or, he will hear you in another room and make his way to you. Magoo is a very happy, healthy little boy, full of love, tail wags and kisses. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night with no trouble at all. Magoo's other two siblings are doing great in thier new homes, they settled in very well and there has been no issues. Magoo also knows how to sit on command and uses the doggie door to do his business outside. You dont necessarily need to have another dog to adopt Magoo, however his transition will be easier for him and you if you have another dog and he loves to play. Magoo goes on camping trips with his foster mom in her 5th wheel. He knows the routine and the lay of the land and just goes with the flow. Magoo will not be able to go to a house with a swimming pool or pond. Children must to be over the age of 8 please. You must also have a doggie door to make his life a little easier. Just come and meet this amazing puppy, he loves everyone he meets and is also cat safe. Magoo walks wonderful on leash and loves to ride in the car and be where ever you are at. (updated 6/22/2017) Magoo is in foster care and can be seen at our Saturday adoption event from 11am - 3pm at Creative Pet Supply -305 North Harbor Blvd. San Pedro, CA 90731. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
