Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? This dog is lightly heartworm positive (HW+). She will be sent home with a one year supply of heartworm medication. She is being treated with a method called the slow kill treatment. She takes a monthly Ivermectin based heartworm preventative and needs to be re-tested for heartworms every 6 months. Once she tests negative, then she can take any kind of heartworm preventative; she is not restricted to Ivermectin based only. Starting on April 1, Tip also started a one month's protocol of doxycycline and prednisone to assist with her heartworm protocol. Tiffany has 3/6 heart murmur and is on pimobenden 1.25 (1/2 pill twice per day). Her heart murmur may be related to heartworm disease. Using 1-800-petmeds, Tip's long term heart medication costs approximately $45 for a 25 day supply. Please check with your veterenarian about Tip's medical problems before applying to adopt. What kind of home would be best for me? We are seeking a quiet home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away. Tip needs a happy, confident dog friend in her home to help her learn what life is all about in a home. What is my personality like? Tiffany came from a home with many other dogs. She has not been socialized through out her life. She is painfully shy and needs a special person to bring her out of her shell. She does not know what toys, leashes, and basic commands are. Tiffany is going to have to learn how to be a dog and how to do normal doggy things. She gets along great with dogs, they actually make her a little more comfortable. This girl has great potential, she just needs someone to straighten out her edges! How do I act when I first meet new people? Shy House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
