Hello, my name is Tiny I am an adorable and wise senior female Shih-Tzu. I enjoy social gatherings with doggie friends and people. I like those little ones, you know… the kids. Though I’m a fairly mellow lady, I do sometimes like to wrestle around with other doggies my size or go for short walks. At the end of the day, I like to retire to my favorite spot on the couch or a nice warm lap in which to cuddle.
I don’t really care too much to be left alone and prefer to have another doggie friend or human home with me as much as possible. I like to play with small toys and those cardboard tubes on which toilet paper goes. Speaking of toilet paper, I am working on my potty training, but as we all know, a few pitfalls can come with age and I have some damage around my anus (please forgive the TMI) that can sometimes cause a little bit of feces to sneak out without my knowledge. This is not fun for me, but it is something that I cannot control. Additionally, with age has come the loss of all my teeth so my favorite treat is Braunschweiger and no longer do I have to deal with dental care so hey, it’s not all bad!
My foster mom says I’m the sweetest dog in the world! This means that when I bark, if I’m in my crate, which I will, she’s not super mad at me. I kind of make up for barking when she takes me out on the leash since I really do quite well with that thing. I am also quite intelligent … here, let me explain: I come when asked to “come,” I don’t touch stuff if I’m told to “leave it” and … get this… I even do my personal business when told to “go potty” Are you able to do your business on command?? I’m guessing not. Please note however, this is not to say that every time I hear “go potty” I have to go. I like to add that little caveat otherwise people will be telling me to “go potty” all the time and believe me…nobody wants that!
Anyway, I’m a little tired of talking all about me. I bet you have a really exciting life and I cannot wait to hear about it.
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
.underdogrescuemn/adoptionprocess/
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at .underdogrescuemn/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website .underdogrescuemn/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
