Sadly, he tested positive for heartworms at an overcrowded rural county dog shelter greatly reducing his chances of adoption there so he made the trip to Canine Lifeline to get the lifesaving treatment that he needed. Briggs was treated for heartworms over the last two months and has been undergoing crate-rest during his recuperation. He has done amazingly well with cage rest—especially for a Husky—and has been very quiet and well-mannered in his foster home. Briggs did great with his heartworm treatment and is now ready to find a permanent home. He gets along very well with other dogs but doesn’t need to have another dog in his home. He’s very people-friendly and likes to be around his humans. Unlike many Huskies, he does fine in a fenced yard and doesn't try to jump the fence. He definitely does not like to be tethered though when he’s outdoors. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard or he will always need to be on a leash with his people when outdoors. Briggs will need some leash-training though as he’s quite a puller. Using an EZ-Walk harness as he works on his leash manners should be a big help. Briggs is bright-eyed, alert, and eager to make up for lost time now that he's been through heartworm treatment. He weighs about 62 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. Briggs is neutered, current on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age.
