My name is Reba and I am a Siberian Husky! I am about one and a half and I have a lot of energy. Just like any other husky, I have a few party tricks. I love to run around like crazy and I would like to think that I have a beautiful singing voice. I will require a hot wire on a 6 foot fence. I can jump 6 foot fence and like to roam. If you want me to stay in your yard where I belong, you might want to supervise me until you are sure I am not going on any unplanned adventures. Other than that, I really am just a good ol girl who would really love a family of my own to have. House Manners: Reba uses her doggie door in our dormitories to do her business. During her room test, she did pee on the floor but it might have been because she was unsure of the doggie door. The rest of the room test she just slept in a chair. Basic Training: Unknown, will evaluate soon Other Dogs: Good with other dogs but will do better in a home with Male dogs, due to high prey drive small dogs are not recommenced Cats: Reba has a high prey drive and should not be around cats. Kids: Reba will do better in a home with older kids that are at least 7 yrs or older. Fencing: Huskies are know escape artist and should not be left outdoors unless unsupervised. Reba is able to jump a 6ft chain link type fencing. She should be in a yard with a hot wire or leash walked only. All of our Husky/Northern breeds require fence photos if you have a yard so we give tips on containment if needed. You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines and gates after you send your application. This breed typically does better with a yard but we may have some Northern breeds or mixes that would be suited for apartments etc. please just ask. Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky you need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost approx $100) this is quite often needed to preventing digging climbing or chewing through fences. A Hot wire is typically the best route to start with for a piece of mind. Installation is simple and can be done in under 2 hours on most yards. Northern breeds are beautiful dogs but are also a challenge and demanding and can be very destructive and hard to contain when there needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our home page. Also we likely have other Huskies or Malamutes for adoption find out by visiting .petangelsrescue. The adoption fee is $150. This dog has had its age appropriate Vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies shot (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration , and also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance . Important PLEASE read if interested in adoption: Please submit an Pre-Adoption Application by clicking our logo button below (if visible) or visiting .petangelsrescue to show your interest in adoption (Only submit one app). This questionnaire simply helps inform us if the dog you are interested in might match your families dynamics based on what we have learned about that dog. All of our pets at Pet Angels Rescue are featured on our independent website and can be accessed from our PETS FOR ADOPTION PAGE, you may want to look at others at our facility you like as well. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
