active when he came last year, his manners have improved a lot. He walks to the exercise yard on the leash, plays with toys, and then sits nicely so that the leash can be put back on.
He has happily met new people. He might bark at first, but he warms up when the person offers a hand to sniff. He came from a shelter, and we don't know if he's housetrained.
He would thrive in an active home- he's very energetic, and he loves to play with his toys. He can have fun all by himself- it's very funny to see him throwing his toys around in the yard! He should be great for jogging and hikes, too.
Two teenage volunteers who met him left us a note about him- "super playful, interactive, loving- really good dog!"

For further info on the adoption process, please visit our home page and check out the "Adopt a Dog" section, which has thorough instructions. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated before adoption; they have been wormed, bathed, socialized, walked daily and much loved; each adoptee leaves with a leash, collar, and all medical records.
Our prices are higher than the shelters' because we nurse the dogs through their illnesses and get them needed surgeries. Also, unlike shelters, rescues do not get financial aid from the government and must rely on donations, grants, and adoption fees. Our fees start at $150 and go up to $750. The higher end is for our most in demand dogs, such as puppies, young beagles, and hard-to-find purebred dogs. The lower end is for dogs that have been here for a while. Because we are a charity, the fees for our dogs are officially "donations" and are therefore tax deductible. You can think of it as donating to a worthy cause and getting a dog in return!
The beauty of coming to our Apple Valley sanctuary is that you can see all 90+ dogs. Email your application and ask for more details.
