This little pipsqueak with the big personality is Ginger, a 1 year-old scruffy who likes she might be a mix of Cairn Terrier and Chihuahua. She was turned into an overcrowded county dog shelter by her owners who could no longer keep her. She was understandably terrified at the noisy shelter and not likely to find a new home there so made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she could relax in a foster home while searching for the perfect new home. Ginger has definitely come out of her shell since being here with us and has lots of moxie and self-confidence. She will need some work on housetraining which may be why she was surrendered to the shelter so will do best with someone who is home much of the time to get her into the routine of going outside regularly. Ginger gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home so would benefit from having a mature canine pal in her new home to help show her the ropes. Ginger can be quite vocal when she wants something so may not be well suited to apartment living. Ginger weighs about 11 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
