Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application. As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, ARF does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants. Gracie is a 2 year old female Treeing Walker Coonhound who weighs in at 40 pounds. Gracie has settled in nicely to her foster home; she is playful with humans and other dogs. Adoption events are a bit overwhelming for her, as she is still learning about all of the unexpected noises in the world. Noisy young children may still be difficult for her. She is not afraid of little ones, but does like to nibble you like a puppy when she plays. She is newly housebroken. Gracie is looking for a loving, quiet, patient home to help her continue to blossom into an awesome companion. Come meet her in her own environment at her foster home, or at an adoption event; she is an absolute sweetheart! Gracie is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and spayed. Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Gracie' s adoption fee is $250. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet

  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life.
