He is always happy and his goofy antics and playful nature will keep you laughing. Eager to learn and please, Dewey has spent the last few months refining his training skills. He enjoys romping around the yard, playing with toys, and learning new training skills. Dewey has excellent manners and is house trained and crate trained. Dewey loves people, but can be shy, sensitive, and slow to warm up. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, he sometimes doesn't read cues that they do not want to play as much as he does. With this in mind, Dewey may do best as the only dog in the house, or with an experienced dog owner who can maintain consistent boundaries with other dogs. Overall, Dewey is the best toy-loving boy and can’t wait to be welcomed into his new home! With love and dedication, Dewey will become your new best friend in no time at all! Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
