Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Est DOB: 12/20/2020 Mavis is described by her foster as an amazing puppy that has loved all the people and dogs she’s met thus far. She loves to swim and play in the water - she would love a family that would take her swimming. Mavis is kennel and potty trained - and she knows sit and stay. Mavis is a very smart girl. Mavis walks well on a leash. Mavis would do well in a home with other four legged siblings or as an only dog. Mavis is in a foster home with other dogs and school aged children that she does well with. Please consider making this adorable girl a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet. This can be found on our website at: almosthomepetrescue/apply-now-1 $200 (including tax) adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
