Description
Posted Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier) / Mixed (medium coat). BUDDY is a 6 to 7-year-old terrier, who was found as a stray but never claimed by his owners. He spent a couple of years with his finder but due to his resource guarding – mainly with food, and his favorite people – he was turned over to us. Buddy was prescribed a lot of different medications for anxiety which we are weaning him off of to work on the root of the problem. We agree with the vet's assessment that Buddy needs his RDA of exercise, mental stimulation and training/boundaries. We are looking for an active home, ideally one where he could go to work with his people and get lots and lots of walking. Although he looks like a Yorkie he has more of the personality of a Jack Russell terrier. Buddy is active and athletic, approximately 20 pounds. Buddy has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for Heartworms and is microchipped. Adoption $200. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
