Posted Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Hey you, yeah you, are you looking for someone to get you up off the couch and motivate you to get some exercise? Need a running buddy or a pal to take on those lovely Autumn hikes? Well my name is Barry, and I promise you I won't let you become one with the couch or forget to move your body. Want to know more about me? Well I'm a three and a half year old black lab/collie mix who is high energy. I'm about 50 pounds so I'm a really great size for most types of homes, and while I'd prefer to have a nice big yard to play in I could probably be okay in an apartment if I had a very active family that took me out to run and play frequently. I'm still learning my manners and will need someone patient who can work with me on basic training and who'll wear me out regularly. I'm crate and house trained. Once I'm worn out, I'm a big ol' snuggle baby who just wants to be loved and I LOVE cuddling at night if you'll let me... In return I promise to always be silly and make you laugh, keep you active, and to love you more than you've ever been loved in your whole life. Some of my favorite things include playing/wrestling with other dogs, chewing on chew toys and bones, and food! Treat motivated = easier to train, and with a firm hand I know I can be the best dog. I'm good with kids, they make me happy. I haven't yet met a cat to know how I'd do with them. So what do you say, ready to take home your next personal trainer/cuddle buddy/best friend? I'm ready-let's do this! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Barry's adoption fee is $200. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
