    Raven

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). ASR was contacted by a good samaritan who had seen an emaciated German Shepherd wandering in her neighborhood. This kind lady was able to capture the dog and we agreed to rescue the dog, once she had been cleared by the local shelter ( just in case her people were looking for her). She appeared to have had puppies recently so it's possible she was abandoned after her puppies were weaned. Unfortunately, Raven had not been well cared for and we were advised Raven was heartworm positive. Heartworm treatment is both costly ( approximately $1100 ) and time consuming ( average about 90 days ) but neither ASR nor our foster hesitated after the heartworm diagnosis. Initially a bit skittish after wandering the streets , Raven is starting to blossom and will begin treatment for heartworm soon. Including the 30 days of antibiotics required prior to the actual heartworm treatment, Raven's anticipated medical costs will be about $1125. If you would like to donate to Raven's heartworm treatment , your donation will be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made via PayPal ( note Raven) or via check. ‚ÄčIf interested in adopting Raven, please contact Adoptions@allshepherdrescue.com If you are not yet approved to adopt from All Shepherd Rescue, please fill out our online application at www.allshepherdrescue.com. Our adoption fee is $300.00.

    Apache

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Apache is looking for a new home.......he absolutely loved his canine sister and adoptive Mom, but became protective with people in the home, and unfortunately, there were a lot of visitors and contractors in the home. Apache has always done well with other dogs and people at various events so we are a bit puzzled by his reported behavior. We think group training and a structured environment will benefit this very sweet " velcro" boy. His new foster reports he has been great with all people and dogs he has met! If you are interested in meeting Apache, please email adoptions at allshepherdrescue.com or complete an online application at www.allshepherdrescue.com

    Braun

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). PLEASE NOTE: This animal is listed as a courtesy for Training Rescue Dogs. This dog is not with All Shepherd Rescue. Do not fill out an application online, instead please be sure to email:info@trainingrescues.org. or call 202-350-1149 for more information. From Training Rescue Dogs: Braun is a large, young dog. He was left to his own devices at his previous home and will need some training. He will be very loyal to the human he chooses to make a bond. Braun responds well to clicker/marker training but he is looking for someone to be his leader. He likes to play with balls and chew on bones. It does not appear that he has much play drive at the moment, but may have some prey drive. ***Braun is a NO for a home with cats. Braun is available for adoption, but will only be placed in a home with significant previous GSD experience (as an adult), one that understands leadership, structure, consistent training and boundaries, and one without young children. Braun has separation anxiety and his adopter will need to understand how to guide him and help manage this situation. He has made tremendous progress with his foster, but it is possible that it may simply be a "management" and not a cure. His issues are not containment-phobia, and he will kennel up. Wire kennels are not an acceptable method of containment for Braun. He will need an airline approved type kennel with a NSEW locking mechanism at this point in time. Excluding his SA, he is an excellent house dog. He's house trained, quiet, and will entertain himself while the foster is working or watching TV. His favorite things to do are to chew on his antlers, his KONG, or balls. He is a strong chewer. He loves to sleep on the bed and is a good foot warmer. He tends to stay in one place at night so once he's there, that's probably where you will find him in the morning. He knows to "sit" for his food, and ring a bell when he wants to go outside. Braun has been attending weekly lessons at P.U.P.S. Dog Obedience (http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/) and he is doing very well. His adoption contract will have a clause stating that he must take at least 8 lessons with Karen Decker, of P.U.P.S. Dog Obedience and she is located in Columbia, Maryland or Melissa Pink in the Alexandria, VA area (vacaninecoach@gmail.com) would be an acceptable alternative trainer to Karen. If you are seriously interested in adopting Braun and have a trainer you have been working with over the years, please let us know and we will be happy to talk with them to see if we might be able to add them to our list of approved trainers. Braun is looking to bond with his handler and will do so quickly, but will continue to need guidance and opportunities to increase his self-confidence. He is a fantastic dog, a lot of fun, and will be incredibly loyal to his human. If you are looking for a velcro dog that you can work with, mold, and form an incredible bond with, then Braun might be the dog for you. Please do not apply to adopt Braun if you have children under the age of 15, cats, or small dogs. He will also not be placed in a home without the individual having significant knowledge of the breed and their idiosyncrasies. Braun is a good boy but he's looking for his special person. Will it be you? Requirements for adopting Braun: Previous GSD experience (as an adult) Understands and is capable of establishing pack leadership Active and capable of giving this young guy the physical as well as the mental stimulation he needs daily. If you are interested in welcoming Braun to your home, please check out out Adoptions Process page --> http://bit.ly/Adoption-TRD . Braun is currently in the Baltimore area and will have a training requirement with one of our approved trainers. If you are not yet approved to adopt from Training Rescue Dogs, please fill out our online application at www.trainingrescues.org. Our adoption fee for Braun is $450.00. Please be sure to email:info@trainingrescues.org. or call 202-350-1149 for more information.
