    Fritz Frankl...

    rescue
    Breed: Mal-Shi
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Pataskala, OH
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu / Maltese / Mixed (medium coat). Please contact Janice (ljpfile05@frontier.com) for more information about this pet. Fritz’s adoption donation is $350 and he is being fostered in Central Ohio. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on prevention, as well as flea prevention. He has also had a dental cleaning. Due to his small size, we will only consider homes with children over the age of 8 and will give preference to applicants with a fenced yard. Mr. Fritz is a very special little boy. He is about 5 yrs. old and is doing well in foster care. He came to OFP from a local shelter. We believe he was somebody's breeder dog so he is now learning how to be a pet. He loves his people and does fine with his foster sibs. He doesn't seem to know about doggie toys, but we are hopeful that will change as he becomes more comfortable in foster care. He has found his voice and will not hesitate to let you know when he wants your attention!! He is crate trained and we are working on leash training. His potty manners are much improved and a work in progress. If you think you would like to be considered as a possible forever family for Fritz, please submit an adoption application. PLEASE NOTE: If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website, not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the individual webpage of our dogs, you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here: http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets. The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home. No application is approved prior to the home visit being done. At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer. We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.

    Breed: Mal-Shi
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: phoenix, AZ
Posted Breed: Maltese / Shih Tzu / Mixed (short coat). $300 adoption donation Emily is a darling little maltese mix--possibly with shih tzu? She came to us from a very dangerous situation, she was in a home where there were a lot of drugs, and lived with some very scary people. We are so happy she is out of there! She came to us extremely shy, and very timid around people. She has blossomed in her foster homes, she LOVES other dogs and after a day of acting scared and barking she is the leader when it comes to play time! A small, social, and playful dog would be ideal in her new home. She is also great with cats! She seems hesitant to go outside, preferring to stay inside and use pottypads. She has been spayed, had a complete dental cleaning, a hernia repaired, is microchipped, and current on her vaccinations. Her feet are still a bit red, as she had chewed them raw in her previous home--but they have healed up nicely. She is an absolute DOLL, who give some time to warm up will be a wonderful family addition.

    Breed: Mal-Shi
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Pataskala, OH
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu / Maltese / Mixed. APPLICATION NOTE: As of 1/8/2017--we are no longer accepting applications on Hayden as we are currently processing a number of them. If she is not adopted from these applications, we will update this message! Thank you! Hayden’s adoption donation is $375 and she is being fostered in Central Ohio. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on prevention, as well as flea prevention. She has also had a dental cleaning. Hayden came into rescue from a local kill shelter where she was shutting down. Hayden is a sweet, petite 5 year old Maltese - Shih Tzu mix who loves to be with her people, so much so, that she will need to have a person who is home often in her forever home. Due to her small size and occasional anxiety, she would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. She does well on housetraining if kept on a schedule but definitely does not like to go out in the rain! She is cratetrained at night but was quick to learn how to walk up the ramp to her foster mom's big bed in an attempt to spend the night there. She walks well on a leash, but she does tend to shake with nerves on car rides. Hayden loves to keep a lap warm and loves to play with toys! She is extremely toy-motivated! Poppi~Senior...

    rescue
    Breed: Mal-Shi
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Caldwell, NJ
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu / Maltese / Mixed (medium coat). Poppi’s Woof-Facts: Male, Shih tzu/Maltese mix, senior, 10 lbs Enjoys people, and being right by your side Has some hearing and vision impairments, so home with no small kids recommended Loves other dogs Sleeping feels oh-so-good! Quick introduction to Poppi Hey there! I’m Poppi, and I’m soft and fluffy like a big cotton ball (well, actually, like a small cotton ball since I’m just a little guy)! I was adopted from FernDog in 2015, but my human recently came down with a serious medical condition and could no longer care for me. Thankfully, I was returned to my rescue group, FernDog, and in a quick-second I fell right back into place in my prior foster home, snuggling with my wonderful foster mom. Like old times, I assumed my resting position right by her feet and currently am enjoying her company immensely. Reunited, and it feels so good… Poppi’s Background The summer of 2015 was not the summer of my dreams. My prior family was getting ready to drop me off at an urban pound at the fine-wine age of 12 (disgrace)! FernDog intervened in the nick of time and did not allow that to happen. They took me into their rescue and gave me the medical care I needed, as it didn’t seem like my prior family took good care of me at all. I got a mini makeover, took my meds like a trooper – happily and lovingly through the entire process — and I was then ready to find my forever home. Not long after, I did just that — found my human who I lived with for about 1 ½ years until she recently fell ill. Poppi’s Typical Day in Foster Home So who thinks sleeping is overrated? I sure don’t – I enjoy my sleep just as much as I would savor a yummy dog treat! And there’s nothing wrong with that in my opinion. As a mature fella, I need some additional beauty rest! I admit, it’s one of my favorite pastimes, and I have this comfy bed which makes it even more exceptional. However, I’m not a total slacker. Of course, I like doing other things — like going on car rides, cuddling with my people and being with other dogs. There are a few doggies in my foster home, and I have fun hanging out with them! Overall, I’m a gentle soul who exudes love each and every day to both my human and furry foster family. Poppi’s Medical Needs I’ll put my ego aside and let you know that I can only see out of one eye, and my hearing is impaired, which is common in some senior animals. But believe me, those things will not get in the way of my ability to give you all my love, lots of snuggles and most definitely feel your love too. I’m well-behaved, but I’m not perfect – since my return from my adoptive home, I’ve had some bathroom accidents. I’m being treated for a UTI, so hopefully that will resolve this recent occurrence. Living with Poppi As you joyfully already know, I get along nicely with other dogs, and I greatly enjoy the company of people. We’re recommending that my forever home has no small children and for one reason only — since I have some hearing and vision problems, there’s a chance I’ll get startled when those little tykes start acting like, you know, kids! Poppi’s Forever Home So this time, I’m really looking for my forevermore home. Could you be my special someone – who’s ready for me to come into your life and help me enjoy my retirement years as much as humans do? Do you understand how important it is for me to find my forever person, giving me the love and care that I’ve deserved all along? I’m a happy-as-a-clam type of guy, but finding you would bring my happiness to a whole ‘nother level. I’d like nothing more than to have you lull me to sleep each night, so I can dream sweet dreams of you while cuddling in my doggie bed! Please contact FernDog and let them know that Poppi is your little mush.

    Breed: Mal-Shi

    Age: Senior
    Location: Eden Prairie, MN
Posted Breed: Maltese / Shih Tzu / Mixed (medium coat). Name: Diva Age: 7-10 years Gender: Female Breed: Maltese/Shih Tzu mix Weight: 9 pounds Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Unknown House trained: Yes Crate trained: Does well in a gated area Energy level: Low/Average History: From KY Adoption Fee: $300 From the Foster: This beautiful little dog is Diva. She is a happy little girl who loves attention - especially ear scratches and belly rubs! She likes to play in the snow - which is hard to believe since she is so little and came from the South :) Diva gets along well with other dogs - she is particularly fond our of Rat Terrier and Chihuahua! Diva is house trained. She is starting to "telling" us when she has to go outside - she runs to the door where we let her out if she has to go. When Diva first joined our family we let her out every couple of hours and she has never had an accident in the house. We have a fenced in area she can run outside to go potty or just play in the snow. Diva is good on a leash - but cannot be outside for very long because she is still a little thin - but has done a good job gaining weight. When its really cold outside I put a coat on her and sometimes she wears a sweater in the house. Diva recently had all her teeth removed and is currently on all soft food. The vet thinks she may be able to eat hard food once her mouth heals. Diva is learning to sit before she eats. She's catching on very quick so I don't think it would take long for her to learn other things. Diva's hair on her back is a little thin due to a skin infection when SHH rescued her. It is healing and the hair growing back nicely. We do not have little kids but based on Diva's demeanor I think should would be good with kids. Diva loves to snuggle by you when you watch TV or lay in bed. Yes, this little girl likes to sleep in a people bed at night AND go under the covers!! Otherwise, Diva loves cushy bed and warm blankies. Diva is just an all around nice dog - she is loving and happy! All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities. I f you would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/ and the foster(s) will be in touch! Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s). You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in. Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received. If you would like to be a foster for Secondhand Hounds, then please fill out a foster application, http://secondhandhounds.org/fostervolunteer-information/fostering-101/ You can choose the type of animal you'd like to foster and we will supply everything you need (food, collar, bowls, crate, etc.) while the animal is in your care. Thanks for your interest in Secondhand Hounds!

    Breed: Mal-Shi

    Age: Senior
    Location: Kennesaw, GA
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu / Maltese / Mixed. LOOKING FOR A PEACEFUL HOME: 9 years old / 16 lbs. Meet me Saturdays at 1 of our 2 Kennesaw locations from 11-4pm. Check for my location at www.mostlymutts.org after 5pm on Fridays. I’ve had a bit of hard luck the past few years and I’m looking for a very calm and low-key kind of home to settle into, and to be given extra time to come around and trust you. I’ve lost my home twice now due to my people dying of cancer so I’ve been around sickness and death and it’s taken its toll on me behaviorally and emotionally. I’ve bitten a few of the nice folks that are trying to help me out and I’m not totally sure why. I do know that I like laps and am sweet, I just need to come to you for affection and to be picked up, likely until we really get to know each other. So I’m looking for a family that will be patient and let me get to know them and come around in my time. I love riding in the car and I have a calm and quiet nature, and have had good potty manners so far as well as I’m doing well in my pen area at the shelter. I got to go to a temporary foster home over the holiday and we learned that I don’t want to live with other dogs, but I loved the kitty cat in the home and she loved me too! I should not live with kids since I have bitten and may be unpredictable at times. Energy level: 3 – 5. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered spayed and my adoption fee is $275.00.
