please email to request this bio on JOVIE. Heartprintsdogrescuegmail JOVIE- Approximately 4 turning 5. So cute with her sad puppy eyes and spotted ears, one of which goes up while the other goes down! She doesn’t really enjoy being picked up but loves to lay on a lap, and makes adorable snuffling sounds when being petted. She is friendly to visitors to the house, both male and female. Barks as most dogs do when there is something happening outside, but not excessively. Jovie is a feisty happy confident dog. Mostly housetrained. Has not peed in the house at all, has pooped a couple times in 3 weeks. Goes down the 3 steps to the back door but usually waits for someone to carry her back up (unless she forgets that she is afraid and runs up with the rest of the pack, silly goose). She eats wet or dry food. She also really enjoys poopsicles, yuck. She generally gets along with all the other dogs although has no problem starting something if she thinks another dog is crowding in on her food bowl or the attention, and when she starts it she likes to finish it! She is sleeping quietly in the crate at night with Buddy, and did fine alone even on the night he was away, although I’m sure she would rather sleep in someone’s bed. She is playful and enjoys toys and chewing dog dental chews. She is loose in the house when no one is home and has been no trouble at all. I think she would be fine as the only dog in a household or with other dogs. . Single Detached Home with a fenced secure locked yard. . Vet Care Done: Spayed DHPP Vaccine Rabies vaccine Revolution for fleas and ticks Dewormed twice Microchipped Heartworm tested negative results Proheart 6 injection . No large breed dogs . Required Securely Fenced Locked Yard A Must. . Mandatory Force Free Dog obedience training Required this is a separate cost to the adopters. This not covered by the rescues adoption fees. . ADOPTION FEE: $500.00 which helps cover some veterinary expenses, including dentals if required, care and transportation costs. . How it works to meet me: . 1) Email my rescue to ask when their next meet and greet day is. . 2) Tell my rescue about where you live your home, yard family, pets in the home. How long you work away from home. Is your home quiet or lots of visitors? This gives my rescue an idea if this would be a fit for me or not. . 3) If our meeting goes well my rescue will send you an adoption application to fill out. . 4) If your application is approved then a home visit will be set up with 2 volunteers within 2 weeks. Remember they are volunteers they are busy too. . 5) Home visit once approved then your references are called. . If it all checks out next you are asked to sign up for dog obedience training classes. Please sign up with Joanna at For The Love Of Paws Dog Training. . 6) Once training classes have been signed up I get to come home with you. . Why all these steps you ask? This to ensure I am going to the right home for me and to protect me.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
