ly in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 05/07/2019 Reason for being in rescue: Frankie is a much loved little man and has been all his life bu life changes and with those changes sometimes it's best for the dog to find a better place to live. This is Frankie's current position. Life changed. Frankie is a much loved little man and has been Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Frankie is a breed that has special needs built in! He's had the surgery on his nose to improve breathing and because of his unique nose structure, he absolutely must be in a home that understands that air conditioning is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Frenchies are very special when it comes to breathing. Also note Frankie has had some disc problems in his back. It does not slow him down a bit but he's not a candidate for canine athlete status (no agility, flyball, etc). However he will excel at being a champion of your heart. Full vet records will be available to his adopting family. Weight: 16 lbs Height: in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? No but he enjoys romping so a trip to someplace with a fenced in area for him to run at least twice a week would be our goal. What kind of home would be best for me? Frankie's home will know the breed. Frenchies are not for the faint of heart and Frankie is a classic french bulldog. We will only place Frankie with someone who has had the breed and understands them. What is my personality like? This five year old guy is just as much fun as he looks. He breathes like an 18 wheeler with no muffler and runs around like a 5 year old child on a sugar high. Frankie enjoys car rides and walks well on a leash. Actually he walks proudly and with a real spring in his step. He easily lets you pick him up, probably so he can give you sloppy kisses on the face easier. He seems interested, but is quiet with new things. He knows how to sit, and enjoys a bath. He has no problem having nails trimmed and enjoys a good rubdown. He can co-exist peacefully with a low key dog who is not a leader. Frankie wants that spot but he enjoys the company of another low key dog. How do I act when I first meet new people? Frankie likes people. People are cool. He is very social with strangers, as they can play with him, and he’s always happy to see everyone. He’s playful, but can have an attention span as short as his nose. Other tips and tidbits: Frankie will chase birds, but he can’t catch them. That's good for the birds! He is not a high energy dog although his play spirit comes in spurts and afterwards, he's up for a long, cool drink of water and a nap. He’s fine in a crate, although he will bark when another dog walks by his area but it's all "hi buddy whatcha doing" kind of bark. He respects fences and enjoys being outside as well as inside. He does not try to dog or climb. He should never be left alone outside unattended and would enjoy short play sessions in the yard with you. He can be food aggressive around other dogs, but eats at a medium pace. Feed him and his buddies in separate areas and you won't have a problem. He is always excited to take a treat, but won’t take your hand with it. All around, Frankie is a beautiful and very spoiled French Bulldog ready to step once again into a human's life and run it like he knows he can do. Frankie was never properly house trained but he is excellent in a crate and that is step one. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
