ING. Porter was previously adopted from us and recently returned. He proved to be too much energy for the family, and he still has puppyish behaviors like mouthing for attention. He will need someone willing to enroll him in obedience classes so he can learn all about good manners. Porter is a handsome 1-2 year-old Golden Retriever mix male with a shorter coat and a sweet and kind disposition. He came into a high-kill county dog pound as a stray and was pulled to safety by a humane society in a neighboring county. From there, he made the trip from the overcrowded shelter to Canine Lifeline so he would have more time to find a great new home. Porter has gotten along well with all dogs and people that he’s met. Given his energy level he might do best in a home with another active and playful dog to help burn off his energy. A physical fenced in yard will be helpful too, as he does like chasing after squirrels and other wildlife. He has excellent crate manners and did well with house training in his previous home. Porter will need work on the leash but he’s a quick study and should soon be walking like a pro. He weighs about 42 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Porter. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age.
