are often referred to as King of the Toys. They have a very high opinion of themselves …. But they think even more of their owners. Once a min pin has chosen you as their person, you will never know more devotion and dedication than this little dog will have to give you. Pee Wee, like his min pin counterparts, has a wonderful sense of humor. He is playful, sassy, and high energy. When you are ready to toss a ball his way, he is all in. However, he is also very good at cuddling up on the chair behind me and taking a nap while I work. My lap is a great spot, too! He likes to burrow next to me at night, and greets me in the morning with kisses and leaps in the air. When you call his name, you can literally watch him light up from within. It means everything to him to be a part of someone’s world and to be important to a human. He is house trained and paper trained for those times that he just can't hold it. Pee Wee is fine on leash and enjoys going for car rides. When he is in the car, he is very well behaved UNTIL you are stopped at a light. He thinks it is big fun to jump at the window and let the other car know exactly what he thinks of them. He has been going out on daily car rides with his foster mom, and his manners have already begun to improve (of course, I had to stop laughing at his antics in order to correct him!). He is great with dogs and cats, and literally causes no issues in a home with other animals. His favorite thing in the whole world is to have his tummy rubbed, sure makes the little nub wiggle! He is a very good eater, and is enjoying a diet of meat, veggies and premium dry dog food. Pee Wee dislikes vacuum cleaners, and likes to try to attack them when you are cleaning. It is actually pretty funny and a great excuse for putting off cleaning. We are working on that too, and since Pee Wee is such a smart boy his foster mom doesn’t really see this as an issue. One thing the new owner must know is that he had a very bad reaction to a lepto vaccine long ago and should never have another. His owner had a terrible car accident and is no longer able to care for him and struggling to care for herself - how sad. If you are looking for a clever companion who will devote his life to you, Pee Wee would love a second chance at being a part of a family who will love and care for him for the rest of his life. You will be lucky to call him family! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $150.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
