bush and I am purty sure they are in cahoots with the cats. Aren’t cats basically squirrels who can’t fly??? purrrhaps they lost their wings for being selfish and plotting takeovers. Either way, I just say no to cats and squirrels. Can’t trust either. You know who you can trust, dogs, I love all non pushy dogs, big and smallies. But my favorite place is people laps, I will do a Happy Dance when I get excited and then you will want to pick me up. My name is Brownie, caramel drizzled brownie. I am a 5 year old 15 pound Miniature Pinscher mix. I am absolutely fabulous if you are an adult human and recognize fabulous when you see it. I am not a fan of small children, they make me nervous, perhaps they are in on it with the squirrels and the cats. I would love a fenced yard to romp in and will gladly guard it from the attack squirrels. I do very well on a leash and prefer a harness with leash, matching purple with turquoise polka dots would be best, but I am negotiable. I am a quick study, 100% crate and potty trained, already know No...Down...Place…and Crate Up. Oh and the big one. Outside! I didn’t get the best care in my younger day, so I did have heartworms, but they have been treated and now I am on mandatory rest after my treatment and almost ready to move in with you! Please email Adoptions@Godsdogsrescue.org and tell them you are ready for ME! GOD'S DOGS Rescue, in San Antonio TX, does not have a shelter - ALL of our dogs are raised in foster homes in the San Antonio area. Each dog comes spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations that are appropriate for their age, microchipped, heartworm tested and on current on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE OF $300.00 FOR LOCAL ( Local is in the state of Texas)! Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. IF THIS IS AN OUT OF STATE ADOPTION, TRANSPORT TO YOU is included in the adoption fee of $500.00 We transport all over the country!! All our dogs are socialized and we try to provide you a good understanding of the dog’s personality. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
