She's looking forward to the good life, and is starting to learn about all the great stuff that happens when you're a pet dog. We asked her what her ideal forever home would look like, and she gave us a short wishlist to share: Chin scratches every single day! Multiple times a day! A lap that I can sit on, or a couch where I can sit next to you while we watch our soaps every afternoon. Lots of patience as I learn about how to be a pet. Plenty of treats. A doggy brother would be okay, but no obnoxious puppies, please. I've had enough of puppies to last a lifetime Turtle would be an ideal companion for a retired woman or a patient lady looking for a low-key best friend to binge watch Netflix with. Like most puppy mill dogs, Turtle's housetraining is a work in progress. She uses potty pads right now and has started to go potty outside, too! We keep her in a puppy pen when she's not supervised, and she loves having her own little place. Turtle is very shy at first, so expect to take some time getting to know her. It took her about three days to warm up to her foster mom. That said, once the floodgates were open, there was no turning back! Once she knows your voice, she wiggles and wags as soon as she hears you, and will run over to put her chin in your hand for scratches. She tends to be more comfortable with women than with men right now, but is open to considering the right man to be her new dad (especially if he comes prepared with chicken or roast beef for her). Did we mention that she loves food? Turtle is a huge fan of treats of all sorts! Medically, Turtle has a few issues that we are addressing. Some of these will require lifelong management, but none of them are going to be a big deal with regular upkeep. As with most puppy mill survivors, Turtle's teeth were in bad shape and she will be having multiple teeth pulled to help her be more comfortable. She will also need to have her right eye removed due to an old injury. She still has partial vision in her left eye, but may become blind in time. Don't let this scare you, though! Turtle's been doing just fine with almost no vision for years, and she wants you to know that she gets around perfectly well with her nose and ears to guide her, thank you very much. She also has an issue with her kneecaps, so a home where she doesn't have to navigate flights of steps (or can be carried up and down your stairs, and kept away from them for her safety) would be best. Turtle's life hasn't been the easiest so far, but that's all about to change. If you want to be a part of her forever, please apply for this one-in-a-million little girl.
