ol, and I am sure glad to be in their care. The volunteers come spend time with me several times a day, and I can’t wait to be spending time with a family of my very own in a great home soon! I’m currently in a great foster home while I wait! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was friendly with them. I also like the dogs in my foster home, though they think I may be a bit too much for an elderly dog, so if you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I saw a cat recently in my foster home and was interested and barked, but was respectful and could be distracted away from him. / I like the kids in my foster home that are 5 and 8 years old. They snuggle with me and I love that! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers describe me best when they say I am ‘a fun puppy with lots of puppy energy’! A typical pup, I can be a bit jumpy with excitement – but I am just the sweetest boy and sat perfectly for my bath and nail trim. The playfulness truly kicked in though, and – by bath’s end - I was playing pounce with my towel – lol. Affectionate and fun, I am sure to charm you with my silly puppy ways! My foster reports that I’m gentle, respectful, not very mouthy for a puppy and that I like being included in the family fun and snuggling of course. / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog - so get ready for some training with your new best friend. I’m getting familiar with the ‘sit’ command and am working on my leash manners, so let’s have some fun training time together. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and I sleep in there through the night in my foster home. / I've been having a few accidents on the shelter schedule and in my temp. foster home, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love to give and get kisses and I sure enjoy snuggling as well as getting those great belly rubs in return. I’m sure I’d enjoy a nice, fenced yard where I can runoff my puppy energy with you, but – don’t leave me unattended, as I have shown a fondness for a bit of digging. I love toys and - Fall may end up being my favorite season, as I love to chew those things that fall from the sky (leaves). I ride well in the car and also enjoy playing with balls. / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
