hedule an appointment. Here is a link to our online application almosthomenm.rescueivey/apply/adopt The application can also be found on our main website almosthomenm or you can email to request it adoptalmosthomenm if you prefer. If you email us requesting the application please watch for it and check your spam/junk folder. Once you have filled it out you must send it back via email to adoptalmosthomenm and then we will contact you to schedule an appointment. **Available** Tiny Male - We believe mom (Gretchen) might be Pekingese/Spaniel/maybe some Dachshund because she's so long and short) and dad (he got a priority hold right away so did not need rescue) might be the Poodle she was picked up with. Approximate DOB 4/27/2025 – Mom is about 11 lbs and the possible dad was about 15 I believe Garth and George came to us because one the shelter is no place for puppies to be raised and second because Gretchen was being a little bit of an angry bear momma with staff. They understood she was just terrified and trying to protect her babies so felt that to ease her stress a little bit it would be best to transfer them to rescue. We agreed to bring them into our program and now the boys are old enough to start looking for their happily ever afters so all 3 of them can start their new lives full of love and happiness. Because the babies are not fully vaccinated they can not do their business outside. Currently they are in an x-pen with puppy pads. These babies are absolutely to die for so get your application in asap. They ae short, chunky, fluffy and just too darn sweet!!! Neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations - Adoption Fee $300 - includes medical, collar and leash, small bag of food he is currently eating, and a few puppy pads to get you started. We do welcome out-of-state adoptions. Steps for adoption: Read entire bio, send an email to request an application adoptalmosthomenm or download it from the main website .almosthomenm, save it to your desktop, fill it out completely and save it, then email it to us, once approved you will receive an email asking you when you would like to come out to meet the pet so we can schedule an appointment, directions will then be emailed or text to you. Please be aware most of the dogs are located in foster homes in Los Lunas, NM. Adoption fees are cash only. If you would like to provide snacks, toys, food, and care for the dogs while they wait for their happily ever afters we would truly appreciate it. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
