ll have everything we need to know to call you back and set up an appointment. Follow us: Facebook and Instagram Moka : The One-Eyed Wonder with a Heart Full of Love. Moka is a sweet and charming senior French bulldog with a soft spot for snuggles, snacks, and being the center of attention. With one soulful eye and slightly derpy ears, and a little tongue that's always peeking out, Moka lives life at her own pace—and that pace is cozy, cuddly, and full of love. Though she’s not one for long walks or marathon stair sessions, Moka has mastered the fine art of indoor lounging and will happily spend the day curled up beside her favorite dogs or humans. She's content skipping the cardio and heading straight for the couch, ideally with a soft blanket and someone to scratch her chin. Playful and affectionate, Moka lights up any room she waddles into. She adores people and is always ready to be the life of the party, especially if the party includes belly rubs and a snack or two. She's also perfectly polite around calm cats, and with her gentle demeanor, she’s an easy housemate for low-key pets. Energy Level? Low House trained? Pee-pad trained for indoor. Poops outdoors. Describe how they are on leash? Fine, but does not love going for walks. Describe how they are with other dogs? Great. Sometimes a little too interested in new dogs. But loves dogs. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they? Yes, fine. Commands they know? Sit What are their favorite things? Snuggles and treats. The resident dogs in her foster home. What do they need to work on? Taking treats without jumping up. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone? She is fine, as long as she has another four-footed companion or two. Where do they sleep? Sleeps in a bedroom with her brothers (dogs) on her bed, What is their ideal home? Single-story living or minimal stairs: While she can manage stairs, Moka isn’t a fan of them, and with her short legs and lower energy levels, a home without a staircase (or with just a few steps) would help her stay comfortable and confident. And she adores a soft bed and steady mealtime schedule: This foodie will never miss a meal. And if you've forgotten her breakfast or dinner, she will sing the song of her French Bulldog people to remind you. Bonus points if you have a soft spot for senior dogs and a stash of healthy treats. Moka is looking for a home where she can enjoy her golden years in comfort and style. If you’ve got a loving home, a warm lap, and a snack drawer with her name on it, Moka just might be your perfect match.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
