are specifically looking for a bulldog-savvy home for Beaux.** Get ready to fall in love! Meet Beaux! Beaux is estimated to be 5-6 years old and is a little heartbreaker who is simply irresistible. He is a charming guy who will woo you with his goofy antics and affectionate personality. He is a total loverboy who can't wait to win your heart. Beaux weighs about 34lbs. He is a tad overweight and would benefit from losing a few pounds. Beaux came to us from a local shelter after he was found as a stray with two other dogs. Their owner was contacted, but unfortunately, they were unable to take the dogs back, and the dogs were surrendered to the shelter. We have a soft spot for the Frenchies, so we were quick to scoop him up, and he has been loving life in foster care. We have learned that the two other dogs have been adopted from the shelter. Beaux enjoys the simple things in life, like lounging by the pool and keeping you company while you watch a movie. He loves to be with his people and make friends wherever he goes. He is a lower-energy guy who enjoys his short walks and long naps. He loves to go for car rides and provides endless entertainment with his silly noises. He would be a great companion for someone who works from home or is retired and needs a cuddle buddy. He appears to have his basic manners down and is a well-mannered boy. Beaux has done well living with other small dogs, but also wouldn't mind being your one and only. He has also done well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Beaux seems like he could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years and older. Beaux appears to be house and crate trained. His foster mom works from home, so he hasn't been left often or for long, but has done well hanging out in his crate when she is gone. He has done well living in an apartment and very much needs a family who can make sure he has access to AC when the temperature is over 70 degrees. Beaux is such a great little dude, and he deserves a family just as amazing as him. If you think that might be you, submit an application today! Beaux's adoption fee is $500. Apply to adopt here! form.jotform/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (.yolospca) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogsyolospca. For more general questions, please see our website at .yolospca.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
