d especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 6/2/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Tucker was surrendered by his owners to a SC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Tucker is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Tucker has heartworms and was treated pre-rescue. Radiographs of the heart were taken by our veterinarian and will be provided to adopters. The radiographs show clear lungs and only mild heart enlargement on the right side from the worms. No additional treatment is recommended and he is ready for adoption. Weight: 36 lbs Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Tucker is a lover, and there is just no other way to put it. Tucker wants to be your little king. You and him and the movies on TV. Tuckers wishes for a life where he is the center of all your attention. He does enjoy the company of other dogs, however Tucker wants to be an only dog. Tucker likes to play it safe when picking out his friends, and that is a-okay with us! He enjoys lounging around with you after walks, or a little romping around in the yard. He does have a playful side to him but as a distinguished gentlemen he prefers to play with his human friends. Tucker is not a lover of cats or overly energetic small dogs, for him you are his only love. Tucker would fair well in a large apartment or condo. He would even enjoy a home with a fenced in yard, though it is not required for Tucker. We do not know if Tucker has ever lived with children, but he has a demeanor well suited for children 10 and over. What is my personality like? Tucker is a mellow mild energy boy with a heart of gold!! He is such a lover boy! He is just so happy to be with his humans. He will accept all the pets he can get and will soak up every shred of affection offered. He is good with other dogs as long as they respect his personal space and boundaries. However, Tucker still very much wants to be an only dog and would love a life as your only furry companion. He just can't help but to soak up everything you have to give for himself. Tucker is clean in his crate and goes in easily after a treat. Tucker is working on learning 'sit' and food motivated. A yard is not required for Tucker, he's so mellow, two walks around the neighborhood and maximum cuddles on the couch should suffice. Tucker is a wonderful boy who appreciates a mellow lifestyle. If you're looking for a chill buddy, he is a great companion! How do I act when I first meet new people? Tucker has been with CPR for over two years now, but this has never put a damper on meeting new people and the moment you are spotted Tucker is there. He loves good back pats and will even occasionally ask for belly rubs. Tucker adores all human interaction and craves a good pet from anyone willing to give him one! Give him a treat and suddenly you have become his new favorite person! Other tips and tidbits: Tucker is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 2/14/2018. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
