Brittany Dogs For Adoption in Curwensville, PA, USA

Dog Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hey Everyone, I’m Penny an adorable and highly active 2 year old female looking for a place to call home Forever! Right now, I’m enjoying the g

ood life in a wonderful foster home in Eastern Maine. I’m up to date on vaccines, spayed, heartworm negative, on prevention and micro-chipped too. I’m house and crate trained and will let you know when I have to go but you will need to pay attention as my “tell” is still a work in progress. I walk fairly well on leash and love playing with other dogs too. I’ve never been around cats but I’m a typical young Brittany with a high prey drive so a cat free home is highly recommended. Seeing as I'm so energetic and active girl, my new house should have a secure 5-6 ft physically fenced in yard so me and my new “bro-fur or sis” have a place to run and play safely too. I would do best in a home where my people are home at least part of the day, as you see I’m also still working on trust and abandonment issues from my former life as well. I do like to be close to my people as I like to see and hear everything they are doing. I enjoy the company of women the most, men are ok it just may take me a little longer to warm up to them. I’ve not been with children much, but I’d probably do ok with older ones given I’m still kind of a baby myself with lots of energy to burn. So, if you’re looking for a young "Miss" like me and have the love, patience, and time to give me a place to call home, please consider filling out an adoption application for me Penny/ME online at: nbran/adopt/adoption-application Once your application is submitted the coordinator in the State where you reside will be in touch. Need to reach your State Coordinator, find their contact information here nbran/about/state-provincial-coordinators Penny’s adoption fee is 400.00 which will help NBRAN cover the vetting costs and other expenses associated with bringing Brits like Penny back to good health and readying them for adoption. Don't live in ME or close by, No Problem! NBRAN has a wonderful transport team willing to help bring Brits like Penny to their new family, up to 1400 miles with the adoptive family being responsible for the last 100 miles, at no additional fee. Still have questions? Contact ME Coordinators Carla Gunn at carladgunngmail or Karen Bailey at tmmb98yahoo, Thank you.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
