omeone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at .carolinapoodlerescue/application Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Weight: 21 lbs Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes - without exception. Simba is a flight risk especially for his first few months in a new home. Want To Know More About Me? Text Simba to 864-441-9075 for my full story and photos - we'll send everything you need to know! Here's Your Quick Peek: Simba is a quirky little guy with many facets to his personality. To foster mom, he is a velcro dog, looking for her everywhere. To foster dad he's a pain in the neck with his constant barking and resource guarding the upstairs because upstairs is his safe spot. To the caregivers, when foster mom brings him to her office, he is bipolar. Some days he's all over them, happy as can be. The next day, he is resource guarding against everyone in the place. Please note - if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Must have: Someone who understands dogs raised without proper socialization or exposure to the world. Exercise: Simba is all athlete - strong, muscled and powerful. He is dynamite (personality and physical strength) in a neat, compact body. Best with: A single person, probably a single woman, who is looking for an active, strong and opinionated little boy who wants to hand her his heart and become her prince and her best friend Not ideal for: An experienced rescuer Energy level: High We do not believe Simba will ever be "normal" but he can be someone's companion, and he continues to become better in many ways than the dog we received in rescue It will not be easy but for the right person, it will be fun and satisfying. Good with dogs: Absolutely - the bigger the better Good with kids: Definitely not Cats: Unknown Fun fact: Simba is wicked smart - he wants to learn Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Want updates and ways to help? 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
