Goliath aka Golie is such a FANTASTIC puppy! Technically he is a teenager and will be entering adulthood in a couple of months and we hope he finds his forever family before the Holidays arrive. Golie was rescued off the streets of Baja where her mom had given birth to a litter of 8 pups. We are still looking for families for several of his siblings and if you are looking to adopt a pair of excellent friends/siblings then take a look at Gias biography as Gia and Golie are a great pair! Goliath's mom is 40lbs and all white, we do not know who the father(s) would be for Golie but many people have different opinions when they see Goliath, some think he is an anatolian shepherd, some see Mastif, some see Corso and well, there are NO corso or mastiffs running the streets of Ensenada sooo we will just say shepherd mix ha ha Golie has been staying at casa de ARWOB since May 2025 and poor guy can't find a family of his own and he is just a great dog! He has such a wonderful soul. He ADORES all humans, men, woman and kids alike. He is PERFECT with all dogs and one of the dog parks favorites. All the dogs rotate to meet golie from the smallest of dogs to the largest. He is good with submissive or alpha personality dogs and sadly he ADORES small breeds but too many hate poor golie and take advantage of him, its sad and funny to see this big boy on the ground belly up trying to make friends with the smalls while they just keep bullying the poor guy. Goliath is crate trained but does best inside it at night and only short stints during daylight, he would need to be well excercised before he is placed in a crate as most teenagers and shephers personalities. He is not a barker but has a mighty bark when he does. He is easily excitable when there are visitors at home and adores greeting them BUT a large 55 pounds storng pup coming at puppy to greet them can be either intimidating to some or you need to grab ON to something close by hence anyone interested in adopting this handsome loving active and VERY intelligent dog should take dog training seriously so you can have a well mannered strong dog as he becomes an adult. Golie is VERY (underlined and in BOLD letters) food motivated and with the biggest drive to learn. He is excellent at sitting and will STAY inside the car before he jumps out when asked which is great. Golie is also amazing with cats, well, he can be too much for scardy cats as he will want to greet them but he is absolutely safe around all cats even small kittens. He likes to play with his water bowl and has no fear of the rain. READY for adoption and currently also searching for a foster. Also, inquire about our foster to adopt trails! ARWOB is not holding adoption events at this time and if serious and interested in possibly adopting this rescue dog we request adoption applications are submitted on our home page at ARWOB once received we will text or email to schedule a call in the hopes we can move fwd to schedule a meet and greet. We do NOT place holds on rescues, only submit applications if ready to adopt. Typically adoptions are the same day of scheduled meet and greets assuming it goes well and there is a connection between both parties. The adoption process can be quick as soon as the next day or two OR up to a week depending on the rescue inquiring and applicant getting everything in order like landlord approval, etc. If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
