Believed to be a Miniature Pinscher/Terrier mix. Frieda has the softest fur, velvety ears, and the kind of sweet eyes that melt you on contact. She’s a total sweetheart who adores cuddling just as much as she loves playtime. After a good burst of zoomies, she’s happiest curled up beside you or resting her head in your lap for a cozy nap. This girl is social and friendly, she does well with other dogs, kids, and even cats. She may chase the kitties in a playful “please be my friend!” kind of way, but her barking has already decreased as she’s settled in and learned the routine. Frieda is still very much a young pup, which means she’s full of enthusiasm and learning every day. She’s working on keeping all four paws on the floor when she gets excited and is making progress with gentle guidance. Because she can get a little jumpy and mouthy during play, she’d do best with kids who understand puppy manners and can help her continue learning. She’s potty trained, uses a dog door like a pro, and already knows commands like sit and come. She loves being outside, is learning to fetch, and absolutely lives for squeaky toys and puzzle toys — especially if treats are involved. Sniffing out hidden goodies is one of her special talents! On walks, Frieda is eager to explore and meet everyone she sees. She does pull on leash right now, but she’s a smart girl and would thrive with continued training. Like many young dogs, Frieda is also a champion chewer. She’ll need plenty of sturdy toys and supervision to help her make good choices (and keep shoes and sprinklers safe!). With structure, exercise, and consistency, she’ll continue blossoming into an amazing companion. Frieda would love an active home with a yard, lots of playtime, and a family excited to help her grow. In return, she’ll give you endless affection, entertainment, and the very best snuggles. If you’re looking for a playful best friend with a cuddly side, Frieda might just be your girl! She is microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
