surrendered. Sadly, they had to make the difficult choice to follow through with his surrender. It was also noted at this surrender that Choco can be destructive inside if left unattended and does have a rough style of play that not all dogs appreciate. As previously mentioned, making appropriate introductions is key to success and understanding that not all dogs appreciate that type of playstyle. If you are interested in meeting Choco, please let us know! 02/25/26 Choco is back at the shelter looking for his fresh start! While in his last home, he was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate pup with a playful demeanor. He has had no experience around children, but was said to do well with strangers and adults. If you have children in the home, please ensure you are making appropriate introductions and supervising interactions, as Choco is still very much a puppy. He was said to be a chewer, so providing him with appropriate outlets for his energy and chew toys is important! Choco was said to be kenneled when his owners were not home. We do not know if he is fully housebroken but he was said to bark when he needs to go outside. Please keep in mind that there is always an adjustment period as he settles into his new home and routine. Choco was also said to do well with other dogs but has not been socialized with smaller critters like cats or pocket pets. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new animals to help continue setting him up for success. Choco has been a sweet boy and would love to find his new people to love. If you are interested in meeting Choco, please let us know! 11/08/25 These adorable pups were brought to the shelter as strays after being found at the Fox Transfer Site in a kennel. We have no idea the true mix of breeds in these puppies, but we believe they are shepherd mixes with maybe some pittie and maybe some husky too! These pups have been very outgoing and friendly while at the shelter! Puppies can be a lot of work, particularly with training. It would be a great start to enroll them in a puppy class with a certified trainer to set them up for success! If you are interested in meeting any of these cuties, please give us a call!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
