he right someone. Our goal is to match each dog with the home that fits them best and each home with the dog that will sing to your heart. Ready to adopt? Complete an application at Application – Carolina Poodle Rescue Date into Rescue: 4/18/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Blossom arrived in rescue pregnant. She's had her babies, weaned them, and has been spayed. Her babies have all found homes. Now it's time for her forever home! Blossom is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 08/13/25 she had a dental polishing. Weight: 13 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No but Blossom has never lived without the security of a fenced in yard. If you would like her to learn to potty on a leash and go for long walks with you, you'll need to teach her this skill. She will learn. It will simply take time. What kind of home would be best for me? Blossom has always been a kennel dog. She has always lived with those of her own kind as her best friends. Blossom must have a home with another confident dog who can help show her the ropes and give her reassurance. She is looking for an adopter who understands that some dogs simply need extra time to open up and adjust to a new life. Originally coming from a breeder/hoarding situation, the wide world is still very new to Blossom. She has had some experience living in a home, but she will need continued patience as she learns that change can be safe and positive. Blossom would do well in most physical settings. She could do an apartment or townhouse because she is a quiet little girl. She is sweetly compact without being tiny so a house with a yard would do well, too. She would love a yard to play in even if it's one she gets to visit instead of on that is attached to her house. What is my personality like? Blossom is a black terrier mix with a very sweet heart. She is an affectionate girl who forms deep bonds with her people once she has time to feel safe and comfortable. Blossom does need patience in the beginning, as she can be shy with new people and situations. When given the time and understanding she needs, her loving personality truly shines. Blossom is still learning household rules and how to walk on a leash, so continued training will be important as she settles in. With gentle guidance and consistency, she will continue to grow and gain confidence. The good news is that Blossom does well for grooming, which will help keep her looking and feeling her best. Blossom is searching for a calm, stable home where life is predictable and changes are kept to a minimum. With the right environment, patience, and love, she will blossom into a wonderfully devoted companion. How do I act when I first meet new people? Timid and shy. But also mischievous and sweet at the same time. Blossom is ready for this new life being loved and spoiled. Other tips and tidbits: Blossom's estimated birthday is 3/26/2023 is our best guess based on her teeth, her behavior and her eyes. We believe she has had two litters. She may have had three, but we can confirm at least two. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive — and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
