After being found living under a car with her eleven puppies, Maddie was brought to BARC in Houston, TX, where she endured the stress of shelter life and separation from her puppies, while also receiving routine veterinary care including spay and vaccinations. Despite everything she’s been through, Maddie has come out the other side with her spirit fully intact—and her love for people stronger than ever. Temperament & Personality Maddie is the definition of resilient. She is: Medium drive with a developing off-switch Highly motivated by attention, treats, and toys Exceptionally people-focused and affectionate Eager to learn and highly trainableShe may have experienced hardship, but she has not lost her trust in humans. In fact, she seeks out connection and will happily remind you to keep the attention coming. Training & Potential Maddie already knows “sit” and is just getting started on her training journey. She did not show reactivity to dogs—even under stress—and has a thoughtful, observant nature. She’s currently learning leash skills and basic manners in foster care. Our home address is in Michigan, however, the majority of our dogs are not located in Michigan. The physical location of each of our dogs is posted with the name of the pet or in the title area. If you are within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
