She was crated initially but 'graduated' to being baby-gated in a spare bedroom when no one was present for short periods of time. The retriever in her likes to 'collect' things like shoes and socks, which she puts in an area she designated. Therefore, she is limited to the spare bedroom when the foster is gone to prevent her from looking for collectibles. Sheva's Ideal Forever Home Because Sheva is a true Livestock Guardian Breed mix, she possesses a natural instinct to watch over her "pack". To set her up for a lifetime of success, her ideal home looks like this: Household Structure: Sheva would absolutely flourish as the solo companion to a single owner or in a multi-adult household with experience. In a single-person home her loyalty becomes a beautiful gift. In an experienced multi-adult household she will fit in seamlessly as the 'pack protector'. With her size she may knock over small children, but has been good with the kids she has met. Because she is young and smart, she needs physical and mental stimulation. The ideal home will offer lots of exercise/mental stimulation. She has had mainly short durations when she is left alone and room to play. The Yard: A secure yard with a physical fence is ideal. Sheva loves to be outside, patrolling her perimeter for squirrels, playing with her toys and lounging in the sun.
