lldog experience for Pebbles.** Watch out, world - here comes Pebbles! Pebbles is about 4 months old, and she is a big personality in a tiny body. While she may be pocket-sized, this girl has a zesty personality that will keep you on your feet. She is your typical bulldog - bubbly, opinionated, and happiest when she can be the center of attention. Pebbles currently weighs about 5lbs and will likely be under 15lbs when fully grown. Pebbles was found all by herself and rescued by one of our partners, BONES Pet Rescue in Covelo. When they reached out if we could take her in, we didn't hesitate to say yes. She has been such a joy to be around, and it's pretty impossible not to fall in love with her. Pebbles is the life of the party! Her extroverted personality means she makes friends with everyone she meets - whether they're human or dog. She is a playful girl who loves to romp around outside and loves finding crunchy leaves to chomp. She also loves car rides and would be the perfect little sidekick to join along for getting errands done around town. Pebbles has strong opinions and isn't afraid to express them. She is a talkative girl and would do best in a house, rather than an apartment, as she has lots of things to say. Due to her short face, she is prone to overheating and needs a family that understands she needs AC during the summer and shouldn't be allowed to be outside for long if it's over 70 degrees. Pebbles loves other dogs and has slowly been convincing the adult dogs in her foster home to play with her. She would absolutely love another playful pup in her new home. Pebbles has been doing well living with a dog-savvy cat. Pebbles could make a wonderful addition to a family with kids, but due to her small size, she would do best with kids 10 years and older. Pebbles is still working on her housetraining, so she will need a family who can be patient and consistent with her training to help her succeed. Pebbles is also still learning all of her other basic manners, like crate training, so she will need a family dedicated to continuing her training. Pebbles has been doing well being left at home for a couple of hours at a time. Pebbles is such an amazing little girl, and she is going to bring so much fun and happiness to her new family. If you think that might be you, submit an application today! Pebbles's adoption fee is $500. Apply to adopt here! form.jotform/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (.yolospca) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogsyolospca. For more general questions, please see our website at .yolospca.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
