Our goal is to help our puppies and dogs find FOREVER HOMES AND FAMILIES, NOT TO MAKE IT PROHIBITIVE FOR YOU TO ADOPT. YOUNG but-still-Golden Girl GOLDIE
Goldie is a true golden girl and a friend for life—one that you’ll fall in love with as soon as you meet her if you’re the fortunate family who gets to bring this beautiful girl home.
Goldie has been wonderful both in my home and in her foster home, where she is currently living with a 10-week-old puppy who was adopted from us. Despite the size difference, she has been a terrific companion to him, just as she was with my dogs and another foster dog when she was staying with me.
I’ve done quite a bit of research on her breed, and everything I’ve found seems to point toward a Golden Retriever/Redbone Coonhound mix. That includes breed-identification software as well as educated guesses from people who have met her, helped save her, and fostered her. She’s definitely not as large as either of those breeds typically are, and she is full-grown, so her height will not change. She does, however, still need to put on a few more pounds and fill out a bit.
Goldie is extremely gentle with other dogs. We have photos of her with the puppy she is currently fostering with, and she has also done beautifully with my Aussies and another foster dog who is a little taller and bigger than she is. She truly seems to enjoy having canine companionship.
Goldie has a very moderate energy level. She isn’t going to demand long walks, constant ball throwing, or hours of exercise. That makes her especially well-suited to the Texas heat we’ve had this summer! She’ll happily enjoy leisurely leash walks and outdoor time when the weather cools down, but because we rescued her after she was dumped as a stray, our priority is making sure she gets to live the life she deserves as an indoor dog—with nice cold AC, couch privileges, and a comfortable bed, of course!
Goldie is very loving and very lovable. She would be a terrific companion for a person or couple, but she would also make a wonderful family dog. She has not shown one iota of aggression toward either dogs or people.
We would especially love to see Goldie go to a home with a male companion dog. He doesn’t need to be the same breed, mix, or size as Goldie, but we’d love for him to have a youthful, moderate activity level so the two of them can enjoy having a playmate and canine companion.
Goldie is housebroken, crate trained, and loves everyone. She is absolutely an indoor dog who will happily lounge around and relax with you, but she also has plenty of fun and personality for adventures, outings, and doing things together.
Goldie really is the whole package—a sweet, gentle, loving girl who would love nothing more than to finally have a family of her own.

General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Our philosophy is to rescue highly adoptable dogs, have them live kennel-free in private homes for temperament assessments and individual personalities.
We work hard to match EACH dog with the right family - kids or no kids, other dogs male or female and/or cats. With very rare exceptions all dogs over 6 months will be spayed or neutered PRIOR to adoption - dogs under 6 months will include a spay/neuter date AND referral info for lower-cost surgery if the adopter does not choose to use her or his personal vet. OUR VETS WILL NOT PERFORM SPAY NEUTER SURGERIES UNTIL DOG IS 6 MONTHS OLD.
