thing her former family had to write this is what I think is really the most relevant is... Last thing (we think first thing) is to just love her, say good girl, good Coco baby, she loves praises, she is sensitive, she loves cuddles, she loves it when you scratch her, and she loves car rides. If you are both sweet with her she will be sweet back. This is what her life was like before she lost her home. We hope she can find a new home soon. Coco’s schedule · My parents usually wake around 8-9 and they take Coco outside and she always goes number 1 and number 2. If you wake up earlier then that you can take her out for her business at that time · Then my mom usually feeds her a cup of food for breakfast and always has her water bowl full. She may not eat this until lunch which is okay. · She is a calm dog and she loves to nap/ cuddle with you and is sleepy in the morning. · Then when my parents come home from work they always pet her outside on the grass because she always pees, since they have been gone for so long. Also when my husband and I go visit her we always pet her outside because she pees. She gets so happy and excited to see you that she can’t hold it in haha · When she first meets a new person at our house we tell them not to first pet her. It’s better for the person to sit down and let Coco smell you first and get used to you before you pet her. If she barks at your guest then tell her no and have her sit. It might be easier to have her collar and leash on at first. Then tell her no if she barks at your guest and tug at her leash quickly twice. · She usually eats a whole bowl for dinner at 6:30-7:30. · After that time we don’t keep her water bowl filled all the way up. Maybe less than half way full. Then she will never have an accident at night. · She usually needs to go number 1 and number 2 an hour after eating dinner. She will let you know when she has go potty. She usually barks towards you and looks worried. Or she could be barking by the door and looking at you. If she starts going in circles then hurry and tell her, “Coco wait” and run and get her collar & leash or just take her outside quickly · Then my parents take her on a walk around their apartment building. Or they will take her outside and throw her a ball or a toy. Also if you run outside she will follow you around and it’s a fun workout with your dog. · She is only allergic to water bottles haha our vet told us. She gets white bumps all over her chin if you give her one. · Since she is a Lab and Vizsla mix she gets ear infections quicker than other dogs. We always spray her ears every morning with that infection spray. · She also loves to lick her paws and tummy for too long and she hurts herself. Don’t let her lick those areas for too long. If not she will need to be in a cone until it heals. You can spray some infection spray if she hurts those areas. · She takes her anti- heart worm medicine once every 3 months. She has never had heart worms. We also reapply her flea/tick medicine. You may need to do it monthly since you live in the country · We never leave food unattended on the table or counters since she is a hunting dog she will smell it and eat it · If you want to change her food brand…buy her a new brand and slowly add her new food to her old food. Do this for about a week until the old food is all done. Be careful she may get diarrhea if you add too much of her new food at once. · We also don’t fee her human food or she may throw up. (Sensitive tummy) · She has a very sensitive nose and doesn’t like the smell of her food bowl if washed with strong smelling soap. If it smells strongly she will keep pushing her bowl around with her nose. That can make her nose tip bleed. Don’t let her do that. Take the bowl away and try again later after washing her bowl with water only. · Last thing is to just love her, say good girl, good Coco baby, she loves praises, she is sensitive, she loves cuddles, she loves it when you scratch her, and she loves car rides. If you are both sweet with her she will be sweet back. {s3344code3031/} All animals adopted from ACT are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped prior to adoption. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
