Mutt

A mongrel, mixed-breed dog

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

Chug

The Chug is a mix between the Chihuahua and the Pug. Both breeds need to be near their owners. Chugs are best for owners who are home most of the day.

Toxirn

The Toxirn is a cross between an Cairn Terrier and a Chihuahua. The Toxirn is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Cairn Terrier and a Chihuahua. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Toxirn are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. The Lhasa-Poo is a mix between the Lhasa Apso and the Poodle. These dogs can have the temperament of either breed. Some do better with families with children than others.

Shih-Poo

The Shih-Poo is a mix between the Poodle and the Shih Tzu. The pups can have the temperament of either breed. Some are better tempered than others.

Havashu

The Havashu is a mix between the Havanese and the Shih Tzu. These dogs make good pets and adapt well to most homes.

Bullmastiff

The Bullmastiff is a big, brave bundle of love. He gets along with other pets and is great with children. Because he grows so large and strong, careful training is required when he's a puppy.
