Posted Breed: Boston Terrier / French Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Please give a warm welcome to Wild Wonderful Winnie! Winnie was brought into the OC Animal Care Facility as a stray, needing medical care. Poor thing was underweight, had an ear infection and cherry eye. Our volunteer whisked her away to our vet where she was spayed and had the polyps removed from her ear. Once she recovered from that, she returned to the vet for her cherry eye procedure. Not knowing her history we can only assume that she has battled allergies that caused her to have ear infections. Chronic ear infections most likely lead to her having ear polyps and caused her one ear to no longer stand up. But we have heard that in 2024, all the cool dogs are sporting one ear up and one ear down. To help her feel more comfortable and keep those pesky allergies at bay she received a Cytopoint shot. She will probably need to continue to get monthly Cytopoint injections every 4 to 6 weeks to keep things under control. Most vets charge around $75 for this injection. Winnie has gained some weight but could stand to gain an additional pound or two, she currently weighs 21 pounds. This shouldn’t be an issue because she LOVES to eat. Winnie also loves car rides and is a great passenger. During the time in her foster home she has become an awesome leash walker. She does not pull, walks right beside you and never reacts to other dogs she sees on her walks. Winnie is estimated to be 2 years old but still has puppy like energy! She is very curious and athletic and can get wherever she might want to get to so she can explore and discover (sometimes she discovers things she shouldn’t). For this reason her foster parents crate her if they have to be away from the house. The crate isn’t her favorite place to be but she does settle in after a few minutes. Winnie loves to be where the action is, so she follows her humans everywhere. She prefers not to let them out of her sight. At night she sleeps in a dog bed next to her furry foster siblings in her foster Dad’s room. Winnie is wicked smart and food motivated so the sky is the limit on what she could be taught. Her perfect home would be an active family that has the time to continue working with her so she can be the best companion possible. Your time and patience will be paid back with Winnie’s unconditional love. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and fecal and heartworm tested (both negative).
