    rescue
    Breed: Lhasa Apso
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Agoura Hills, CA
Posted Breed: Lhasa Apso. Dog, Lhasa Apso, 10 years, Male Neutered, Current on Vaccines No current health conditions Bio: Chester is a sweet, well-mannered 10-year-old, male Lhasa Apso. He loves to relax and is completely happy curled up near his person just taking in the day. He loves to go on walks, chew his chew toys (especially soft squeaky ones), and of course, he loves treats! He is house-trained and enjoys doing his business on walks. Chester will do best in a home without young children or other dogs, though he likes cats. He's a great companion just looking for a new place to call home! Reason to Re-Home: Chester can be prone to anxiety and currently lives with another dog who he has snipped at and tried to exert dominance. We are currently expecting a baby and believe that Chester will do best in a home that does not have young children or other dogs. Email: sguffee4@gmail.com Phone/Text: (805) 405-4531

    Breed: Lhasa Apso

    Age: Senior
    Location: Potomac, MD
Posted Breed: Lhasa Apso. Online application here Cocoa and Brownie spent half of their lives in a crate. These little nine-year-old Lhasa Apso dogs lived with a family who had no time for them. Imagine what it was like, spending 10-plus hours every day confined and waiting for their loved ones to give them attention. Finally, after nine long years, the family decided that it was time to give them up. Now, Cocoa and Brownie, male and female siblings, are enjoying their foster home, running free and playing while they wait for the loving home they missed all those years. These two senior dogs are in reasonable health for their age although Brownie is diabetic and needs shots daily. She accepts the shots willingly and shows no sign of her affliction. Both are dog-friendly but not tested with cats. They are young at heart, enjoy the outdoors and attention. Cocoa and Brownie have had their shots and their teeth cleaned. They walk well on a leash. Cocoa responds to recall; Brownie, sometimes. We prefer they not be crated and have access to a yard. Also, an apartment would not be a good place for these dogs after what they have experienced. They want them to live out their lives enjoying the freedom they missed. Both are altered and up-to-date on vaccines, preventatives and ready to start the next chapter of their lives! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** To complete an online application, please click here and call Carole at 240-506-1369. Sponsor Cocoa & Brownie! CLICK HERE TO DONATE NOW > Your donation will help offset the costs associated with Cocoa & Brownie's care. Any extra funds raised will be used to help other PetConnect Rescue animals. Adoption procedures, fees, and applications may be viewed by clicking here.

Posted Breed: Lhasa Apso (short coat). $50 adoption donation Missy is a sweet chubby senior Lhasa Apso who lost her home when her human mom died. She is overweight at 30lbs, she should be about 23-25. She has lost 3 pounds since coming into rescue. Missy has dry eye and requires daily drops which she despises and is not a willing recipeint--but we have found a way to get them in her without her attempting to bite--and that's by putting her on the counter--so her new mom/dad must be able to lift 30lbs. :) Missy also has slight hypothyroid and takes a pill twice a day to regulate it. Missy has also had a full blood panel, a dental, and is microchipped. ***Missy's new family will be provided with a years supply of her thyroid meds

    McNubbins

    rescue
    Breed: Lhasa Apso
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Benton, LA
Posted Breed: Lhasa Apso (long coat). *HEARTWORM POSITIVE (see “heartworm positive” notes below) FOR ADOPTION! Note: Only those with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. (For more pics, visit nr2r.petfinder.com or www.RoadtoRescueLA.org) INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: E-mail roadtorescue@bellsouth.net for an adoption application. PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE requesting an application. McNubbins (male) Intake date: 4/19/2017 Lhasa Apso mix Approx 2 years old 12.9 pounds Adoption fee: $170, which includes microchip and enrollment fee Good with other dogs: yes Cats: yes Vetting: altered (spayed/neutered), UTD on shots, heartworm POSITIVE, fecal negative, semi shave-down (back end heavily matted), 6 month Proheart injection Health issues: heartworm positive (see heartworm notes below) Temperament: Very sweet boy, playful, fun! Energy level: medium (great mixture of playfulness and calm) Groom needs: High – will require grooming every few weeks Intake reason: McNubbins came to us from Caddo Parish Animal Services. We spotted him one week and he was still there the next and heartworm positive so he could not go into adoptions. Shelters don’t typically put heartworm positive dogs in adoptions because they want to make sure that a rescue addresses the heartworms and finds them a home where the adopter will continue to address the heartworms. McNubbins is the sweetest little guy, however, he came from a home that didn’t appreciate him or care for him as they should have. He was heavily matted around his back end and missing much of his hair due to a flea allergy. Of course, we made sure he got rid of those pesky pests right away. McNubbins loves to play with his toys, get attention from the volunteers and play with the other dogs. He’s just an all-around cool doggie and is going to make one lucky adopter very happy for many years to come! Heartworms: Don’t let heartworms discourage you from adopting a heartworm positive dog! We have tons of examples of dogs adopted and then ultimately testing heartworm negative following our instructions! McNubbins is on (or has completed) twice a day Doxycycline for 30 days, and he/she has received a 6 month Proheart injection. The Doxycycline kills bacteria, which heartworms thrive on, thus weakening the heartworms and eventually they will die off, but it could take months and possibly up to two years before (s)he will be heartworm free. The 6 month Proheart injection (which is a heartworm preventive that lasts for 6 months) kills any heartworm larvae and sterilizes the adult heartworms so they no longer reproduce. While the “gentle kill” or “slow kill” method does take longer than traditional harsh veterinary treatment, we prefer this method because there is less risk, it is not as harsh on the dog and the dog does not have to be confined for up to two months during the treatment. We recommend the dog continue a course of Doxycycline every 60 days (in other words, 30 days on... 60 days off... and so on for one year), plus the 6 month Proheart injection every 6 months or a monthly heartworm prevention. After one year, we recommend the dog be retested. If positive, continue the Doxycycline 30 days on... 60 days off method (plus heartworm prevention). If negative, just continue with regular heartworm prevention. We do require that any interested adopters understand heartworms. They must also agree to continue our method of treatment or, if they wish, they can opt for traditional veterinary treatment; however they cannot choose to do nothing and we do require an agreement/contract be signed that the adopter will continue with a plan to rid him/her of the heartworms. We highly recommend that you discuss this with your veterinarian BEFORE applying, as some vets will ONLY do the traditional veterinary treatment... (which is poison). **IMPORTANT NOTES** *All of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever! We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family! We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing. There is no exception to this rule! *NO SMALL CHILDREN!! As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL! Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents. *HOUSETRAINING: We do NOT guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained. While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night. Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained, it doesn’t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home. Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency. *We do not guarantee the age, health or temperament of any of the dogs we rehome. Many of the dogs we take in come from animal control and rarely do we have histories and even when we do, many times the histories are inaccurate. *Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty. That’s our guarantee. Other notes: This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La. We are 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to rescue small-breed dogs and a handful of cats and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes. To apply to be approved to adopt, please e-mail roadtorescue@bellsouth.net for an adoption application. Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal. We do not reserve animals, unless and until we have approved your application, provided the animal is still available at the time we receive your application. The first APPROVED application we receive will be considered. We are NOT a first come, first serve rescue!! We adopt our rescues out to the RIGHT home, not just A home. Only responsible pet owners need apply. Applying to adopt does NOT commit you to the adoption until you’ve met the pet (unless you already have). www.RoadtoRescueLA.org

Posted Breed: Lhasa Apso / Shih Tzu (medium coat). Adoption Fee $375 Meet Ollie! * No small kids, please * Needs a strong pack leader Ollie is a playful, inquisitive little boy. He found himself in doggie jail at the local pound. Well, MARS decided to break him out and let him learn to be a doggie again. He's doing VERY well. Ollie loves his belly rubs and playing with other dogs! He is learning to share with toys and food but he is making great strides. Ollie is housetrained and know the basic commands. This sweet boy will do best in a home with another dog to play with. A fence would be best as he loves to run around. We don't want him getting carried away lol! Small kids are not an option for this little guy, he would rather hang out with his fur friends and his adult humans! If you would like to meet this sweet boy, please let us know!
