Posted Breed: Papillon / Chihuahua. Pogo is an adorable and well behaved little girl. Just 6-7 lbs and about 2 years old. She was found as a stray in June. She looks like a papillon/chihuahua mix. She is a friendly and sweet little lap dog. She bonds quickly and just loves to sit with her person. When she meets someone, she's not much interested at first, but soon after you start cuddling her she decides you're her bff. Good with kids and dogs. Despite her tiny size, she does very well on a leash and enjoys walks. Are you my furrever family? Pippa (in GA...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Papillon
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Marietta, GA
Posted Breed: Papillon / Pomeranian. Pippa is very scared of people. She plays with other dogs with great enthusiasm , inviting them to wrestle and zoom. But she stays as far away from people as she can feel safe perfering to hide under the bookcase or bed. When the house is quiet at night she sneaks out and comes to me for special pats. She is so proud when she does this! and then - like a little bell goes off - she scoots back under the bed. Her teeth and her playful puppy ways suggest that Pippa is closer to 2-3 years old. She would blossom with a quiet adult family who would be able to take the time to help her feel safe. She does need another dog to help her understand people are OK and a fenced yard is a must. Pippa's new family needs to know that she will not greet them happily when they come to visit her. The trauma of her early life has taught her to hide. So great patience and perserverence will be needed to gain her trust. Please don't apply for Pippa unless you have the time and understanding to love her as much as we do. I really believe she can become the shining star she is meant to be with the right family.

    Breed: Papillon

    Location: Altus, OK
Posted Breed: Papillon (long coat). Super Cute!! Prissy, and her friend Presley, were found abandoned at a local apartment complex in a pet taxi with a container with food, their leashes and some snacks. Prissy appears to be a 2-3 y/o Red and White (F) Papillion that is super cute. She is very friendly and wants you to hold her and cuddle in your arms. And she loves to give you doggy kisses (if you will let her). She is very leash and crate trained and may even be house trained. Prissy is current on all her vaccinations, spayed, and tested negative for heartworms and 3 tick borne diseases. She will be getting microchipped. For more information about Prissy, email swoan@swbell.net. Prissy’s adoption fee is $175.00. We would like to see Prissy and Presley stay together for an adoption fee of $300.00.

    Breed: Papillon

Posted Breed: Papillon. Asia is a cheerful happy little girl. She always has a smile on her face! She really likes people and would be fine with well behaved older children. Asia is happiest when she is curled up next to you - in fact - right on your pillow. She is well behaved and wants to follow all the rules - she just need to know what they are. Like all Paps, Asia wants to be the light of your life - getting a lot of love and attention. Asia has one leg that was injured years ago, so she limps sometimes. We have had her completely checked out and we are trying an exercise plan to restore the leg muscle. She doesn't seem to care! But we would like to help her get a bit stronger. Walks and swimming would be so good for her! Come to meet Asia and see what a great companion she would be.

This treatment method could take 4-6 years to clear the heartworms. Our vet does not recommend the quick method heartworm treatment for senior dogs. However, he stops when being told to do so. CHEWER: No JUMPER: No ESCAPE ARTIST: No DESTRUCTIVE: No AGGRESSIVE: No ANXIOUS: No Comments from foster Mom: This boy, along with many other little dogs came to rescue as the result of a mill-type breeder cruelty confiscation. He was very underweight, had trouble digesting regular dog food and was heartworm positive. He also had a mouth full of teeth that were either loose or rotting in his gums. When the vet completed the dental and removal of infected teeth, Loki had only his two upper canine teeth left. He was put on a prescription bland diet of soft food and he began to thrive. Unlike most dogs that come from living in cages all their lives and being used only for breeding, Loki craved the attention of people. At the shelter where he was housed, he would bark constantly for someone to pay attention to him. Sometimes the people working at the facility would let Loki out of the cage, but that could not be done often enough for Loki... He was adopted once but returned because he would mark on everything in the house and the adopter could not housetrain him. This is not unusual for a dog that has lived 8-9 years in a cage. He was never allowed outside the cage in the breeding operation so he didn't have a clue that inside his cage/home was not the place to potty. Loki stole the hearts of many of the people who worked at the shelter, and one of them started taking Loki home on weekends with her so she could start house training him. While Loki got lots of love and play time with her dogs, he just could not understand what house training was all about. Even after months of working at it, his weekend Mom could not teach him. Loki will never be housetrained. Since Loki could not be housetrained, the odds of him being adopted were little to none. He was such a sweet boy, loving everyone, but hating living in that cage so was still barking all the time. Someone in the rescue suggested they should try to find a rescue (preferably Papillon rescue) that fostered dogs in their homes rather than in a shelter. We received an email asking if we could take a senior, heartworm positive Papillon boy who was very beautiful and social but could not be housetrained. They explained that in their shelter he barked all day until he was hoarse, just trying to get someone to come see him and give him a little attention. We said YES, send him to us ASAP because it broke our hearts, too, thinking about this sweet little old man being locked in the cage and barking all day for attention. Loki came to us lean and still on the prescription dog food, but since he was not having any trouble digesting or holding small portions of other food down we put him on a regular soft food diet and he's thriving. He's gained a little weight and even though he has no teeth, he will gobble up kibble if there's any on the floor that he can reach. This little old man is the sweetest, most gentle Papillon I've ever fostered. He's healthy except for the heartworms (which will be eliminated when he is treated), has great eyesight but is losing his hearing. He gets along with all 6 of the other dogs and even tries to play with some of them even though he's the oldest dog in the house. He doesn't know how to play with toys, and he can keep up when all the other dogs zoom around in and outside the house. He's playful, active, agile, and very happy! He can also be quiet and gentle as well. In our home he wears a bellyband all the time. (A bellyband is a rectangle of cloth that is long enough to wrap around the dog's body and cover the part from which the urine comes. We put part of an incontinence pad inside the band and change the pad when it gets wet.) The bellyband prevents us having to clean up when he marks in the house. Poop just has to be cleaned up... Because his hearworm treatment will take several years, (he tested 3 of 3, which is a heavy case), he will need someone who will never forget to give him the monthlhy mdication. He's had such a hard life and is very comfortable inn his foster home, he is in sanctuary care and is not adoptable. Please consider making a donation towards his medical care. If you have additional questions, email PapillonMom@gmail.com Visit our facebook page to see more about our adoptable dogs https://www.facebook.com/pages/Papillon-Pals-Rescue-Inc/123308784374523 For a no obligation adoption application go to: http://papillonpalsrescue.com/AdoptionApplication.pdf. Download the application to your computer, add your information and then attach the completed copy to an email and send it to us. Please note that we do not ship our dogs. We are a very small organization and are located only in Northeast Florida. We only adopt to families located in the general area that includes Florida and Southern Georgia. We are an all volunteer organization and do not have a brick and mortar facility. Please do not call us about our adoptable dogs. If you email us, we will respond, answering your questions within 48 hours of your inquiry. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Our Adoption Process: We require an application be completed and submitted if you wish to adopt a dog from Papillon Pals. Once the application is received, our Adoption Committee reviews the application to make sure the applicant meets the requirements for adopting the dog (for example: requires a fenced yard, or a stay-at-home adopter, etc.). We then check personal and vet references. If all is well with the references, we contact the applicant to schedule a time to take the dog to their home and meet all of the family. All information is then submitted to our Adoption Committee for review/approval. This process may take up to two weeks to complete. We desperately need foster homes for newly rescued dogs. If you think you might be interested in fostering a small dog, contact Linda, PapillonMom@gmail.com for more information.
