Mutt

A mongrel, mixed-breed dog

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

Chug

The Chug is a mix between the Chihuahua and the Pug. Both breeds need to be near their owners. Chugs are best for owners who are home most of the day.

Maltipoo

Malt-A-Poo, Malti-Poo, Maltepoo

The Malt-A-Poo is a mix between the Maltese and the Poodle. These dogs get along well in most families, if they have a yard for exercise.

Shih Apso

The Shih Apso is a mix between the Lhasa Apso and the Shih Tzu. They can have the temperament of either breed and may not like children.

Lhasa-Poo

The Lhasa-Poo is a mix between the Lhasa Apso and the Poodle. These dogs can have the temperament of either breed. Some do better with families with children than others.

Shih-Poo

The Shih-Poo is a mix between the Poodle and the Shih Tzu. The pups can have the temperament of either breed. Some are better tempered than others.

Havashu

The Havashu is a mix between the Havanese and the Shih Tzu. These dogs make good pets and adapt well to most homes.

The Japanese Chin is very bright and playful, often showing off his family. A loyal pup, this dog has a growing appeal as a family pet.

Toxirn

The Toxirn is a cross between an Cairn Terrier and a Chihuahua. The Toxirn is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Cairn Terrier and a Chihuahua. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Toxirn are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. We currently do not have more detailed information for this breed.

The Pug is one of the oldest breeds of dogs and has flourished since before 400 BC. China is the earliest known source for Pugs, where they were pets of the Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. The Pug is a family favorite. Full of confidence and always eager to please, this dog makes a great playmate for children and a loyal addition to the family.

French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is low key and enjoys lots of activity. He's well suited for either family living or attaching to just one special person. He can be a great watchdog, although will bark only when there is a real need.

Italian Greyhuahua

The Italian Greyhuahua is a cross between an Chihuahua and a Italian Greyhound. The Italian Greyhuahua is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Chihuahua and a Italian Greyhound. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Italian Greyhuahua are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Miniature Bulldog

The Miniature Bulldog is a mix between the Bulldog and the Pug. This breed can have the temperament of either of the parent breeds. They make good pets with the proper training.

Chion

The Chion is a mix between the Chihuahua and Papillon. Both parent breeds tend to be aggressive with other dogs, so this breed should be the only dog in the home.
