I need to rehome the sweetest and most loving boy. Unfortunately, he has started to go after my cats and it has created an unsafe environment for everyone in my home. He does get along great with other dogs and with children. I would love to see him go to a family with a large yard for him to play ball in. He loves to play ball and loves cuddles and kisses. He is microchipped and up to date on shots.

Beagle Dog For Adoption in Wyandotte, MI, USA

    Breed: Beagle

Posted Breed: Beagle. Betsy resides at her foster mom's home. Please e-mail beagmom1yahoo for an application, more information or to set up an appointment to meet her. Ten things you need to know about Betsy. Please read them all because I saved the good stuff for last. Her adoption fee is $200. 1. In July, Betsy was hit by a car. Her pelvis was broken on both sides. Because of this, she walks a little funny. She is not in any pain but may have arthritis as she ages. 2. She tested positive for Lyme disease and was treated. She will need re-tested in January to make sure she tests negative. 3. She was trained as a hunting dog and hunts critters in my yard every day. She has killed small animals. 4. She was kept outdoors in a pen and is not housebroken. While we have made great strides towards that goal, her new family should be prepared to have baby gates to block access to the entire house until she can be fully trusted. She lasts about 4 hours. We have someone let the dogs out at noon and she usually whines to go outside once during the night. Because she was not a house dog, she needs to be treated as if she were a puppy. She prefers to shred stuffed animals but she has also, when we first got her in July, chewed holes in bottles of hand lotion or torn up paper. She hasn't done that in ages. 5. She is loud and not suitable for a condo or apartment where her family shares walls with another unit. 6. She suffers from separation anxiety and is currently on Prozac and supplements to keep her calm. She also has containment phobia and being crated terrifies her. We have given up trying to break her of it since 4 medications and 9 months of time haven't changed anything. Starting in March, we are trying dog diapers and leaving her out. She's had a few accident in the diapers but she seems much happier and calmer. My hope is to try to eliminate all the meds. . 7. Sometimes her anxiety causes her to pace and whine. She does this when one of us leaves but she is getting much better. 8. She is frightened of new people and places but it's because she has never experienced them. I introduced her to a toddler and she was terrified of him because she had never met a child before. 9. She is a beagle...which means she knows how to get on chairs to get on the kitchen table and counters. You absolutely must keep all food put away and trash cans secure or kept in a closet. 10. She is a digger. We have privacy fencing with a narrow patch of dirt underneath and in order to chase the neighbor's cat that sits in our driveway, she dug under the fence. We've had beagles for 18 years and Betsy is the first one to ever outsmart us when it comes to escaping our yard. Now for the good stuff!! 1. Betsy is very snuggly and loves lap time. She would also love to sleep curled up in bed with you. 2. She's wonderful with our cats and has never shown any signs of aggression with them. 3. She is very gentle when taking treats from my hand and has no issues with food aggression. 4. She's relatively quiet outside. 90% of her barking is when she's crated. 5. She rides great in the car. 6. She doesn't beg for food when we eat and has not been given people food.p> 7. She weighs 21 pounds and is about 4 years old. 8. Betsy would do best in a home with another dog. Her fears and anxiety are significantly lower when she can be with our dogs to reassure her. I'm hoping for even more good things to be added to the list when she finds the perfect forever home. She will need someone who is experienced with beagles/hounds and the issues that go along with having them. While they are great, affectionate dogs, they are also stubborn, food-stealing escape artists. In my 18 years of owning/fostering beagles, Betsy is by far the most challenging for these reasons. She absolutely has the potential to be an amazing family pet with the right home that will have the patience to train her and keep her active and mentally challenged to make up for the fact that she's no longer hunting. If you are interested in Betsy and think you might have what it takes to work with her, please contact me at Beagmom1yahoo. Feel free to ask questions or even offer training suggestions! Betsy's adoption fee is $200. Thank you. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $100 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion.**

Posted Breed: Maltese / Mixed. Her name is Francine. Francine resides at her foster mom's home. Please e-mail infosheltertohome for an application, more information or to set up an appointment to meet her. She was rescued back in October and was obviously not living her best life. She was nicknamed 'the snapping turtle' as she struggled a little to trust her human. We quickly realized just was neglected and needed to feel better. We set out to do just that...make her feel better! She came to us underweight, with a horrible skin condition, two inflamed ears, a cherry eye, dry eyes, and bad teeth. We believe she had also given birth to many litters over the years. We are guessing she is around 8-10 years old. It was time to give her what she deserved. Attention, love, solid meals, and veterinary care. Months later, we are happy to report she has gone through a wonderful transformation. She was spayed, was given a dental, and her cherry eye was surgically fixed. She now gets medication for her dry eyes, her arthritis, and a daily pill to get her allergies in check. Her fur has all grown back. She now plays with toys, will play with some of the resident cats, sleeps in bed with her foster human, and seems so much happier and healthier. She does well with other dogs. Her new forever home will need to commit to the following: 1) Lots of love of course! 2) The cost of daily meds (which can all be given in her food) 3) Fenced in yard 4) Walking on a harness 5) Regular visits to the groomer 6) Yearly wellness exams One must be financially able to keep her on her medication for her dry eyes, arthritis, and allergies. Being a senior dog, staying up-to-date on her care at the vet will be very important. She doesn't love going to the groomer, but has been several times while in foster care. A local downriver groomer has learned how to work with her. Because of her chronic dry eyes going untreated for so long, she doesn't not love her eyes messed with. So cleaning them can become difficult. She will give a snap every now and again; therefore, we are looking a home without young kids. She still has a little left of her snapping turtle ways :-) She has done well with her house training, but we noticed she likes to pee on rugs. Her current foster home has wooden floors and no rugs...and she does well. We are not confident she would do well in a carpeted home. If you think you may be a good match for Francine, feel free to contact us at infosheltertohome. We can start the application and conversation to see if you might have what Francine is looking for! **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Great Dane / Mixed. Plato resides with her foster mom Lori. Please e-mail lwend5763yahoo for an application, more information or to set up an appointment to meet him. Plato is a senior at 11 or 12 years old. Plato was surrendered at a local shelter. He was very under weight and appeared to have muscle loss. We are working to put weight on him and gain his muscle tone back in his rear legs. He had a senior blood panel and all seems to be ok with his overall health. He had been struggling with diarrhea since coming to Shelter to Home, but recently that has finally changed!!!! He is the sweetest boy and craves attention from his human. He is in a home with other dogs and cats and does well. We would love to see him at a good weight before adoption but would consider sending him to an experienced home to help him gain the muscle and weight he needs. Email his foster mom to learn more about this great senior soul!!!! lwend5763yahoo **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. Posted Breed: Shar Pei / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Zeus resides at his foster family's home. Please e-mail infosheltertohome for an application, more information or to set up an appointment to meet him. 2 year old Zeus is a happy 80 pound boy who came to us in January. He had Entropian, severe ear infections, and skin issues. We have come a long way since January! His eyes were successfully corrected with surgery and our Dermatologist has determined that the ear and skin issues are due to allergies. To prevent these issues from coming back, Zeus will need to have an allergy shot given at home every 2 weeks. The approximate cost for the shots is $350 per year. Weekly to bi-weekly baths using a hypoallergenic shampoo are also required to help keep the allergies from becoming a problem. Zeus was tested and we know that he is allergic to cat dander, grass pollen, fall weeds, dust mites and tree pollen. He will not be adopted to anyone who has cats since we know this will cause him problems. Zeus loves taking baths! Currently we use the Pet Supplies Plus self serve bath station. He also loves long walks, playing fetch, and earning treats. We have been working on basic commands, he is food motivated so rewarding with treats work great! He is crate trained, stays in it during the day while we work and at bed time also. Zeus has gone to daycare with other dogs and lives with two other dogs in his foster home. Daily exercise and older children are recommended for Zeus due to his size and playfulness. A fenced yard is required and he is not a good fit for someone in an apartment or condo. Adoption fee is $175.00 **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Hi there, my name is Charlie and I am a Pit Bull terrier mix. I reside at my foster mom's home. Please e-mail infosheltertohome for an application, more information or to set up an appointment to meet me. I've spent the last few months getting healthy after spending time in a local animal shelter. My foster Mom says i'm a good boy and am fully potty trained. I dont chew things, except my toys, and when I'm not playing outside, I like to snuggle and take naps. I currently live with a kitty named Chloe who I mostly ignore cause she scares me a little. I haven't ever met a cat before so I watch her if she gets close. I'm getting ready to go to training classes soon and my foster Mom says I'm pretty good walking on a leash although it's new for me. As I am a big boy, I would do best with older kids and adults. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. Posted Breed: Beagle. LANEY IS IN HOSPICE AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.Laney Lou is about 10 years old and was rescued with a 1 POUND mammary tumor on her abdomen. The tumor was about as big as a grapefruit and hung between her legs, making it difficult for her to walk, sit, and properly urinate. The tumor came back as mid-high grade cancer. Six months after that she had one of her anal glands removed because there was a small mass in it. That was nearly 2 years ago. At this time, Laney has numerous spots of cancer in her chest and she has a mild cough starting. We love her and will do as much as we can to keep her comfortable for as long as possible. She is an absolute doll...and did not deserve to have her life cut short because of a tumor her previous owners failed to deal with. The surgery cost Shelter to Home over $1,320 and we believe Laney Lou is worth every penny. If you would like to contact her foster home, you can email Beagmom1yahoo. Thank you. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi. I am Ziggler or Ziggy for short. I am new to LDDR and my foster mom is getting to know me. I am a good boy. I am housebroken and get along with kids and dogs. Not sure about cats - haven’t met one. If interested please fill out an application and let’s meet! Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.
