German Shepherd Dog

The German Shepherd is unmatched in character and courage. These dogs make great companions because they are loyal and have the heightened senses of an excellent watch dog. At the same time, they can be gentle and playful companions for children.

The Chipin is a mix between the Chihuahua and the MinPin. This dog does best in homes where it is the only pet.

The Chiweenie is a mix between the Chihuahua and a Dachshund. This mix makes a good pet in homes with older or no children.

Beagles were former pack dogs, so they are very social and love being with their family and other animals. They've very gentle as long as they receive the love and devotion they deserve. They're also intelligent and quick, needing plenty of exercise.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

The Hava-Apso is a cross between an Havanese and a Lhasa Apso. The Hava-Apso is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Havanese and a Lhasa Apso. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Hava-Apso are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed.
