    Renji

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Dachshund-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). Meet Renji! He's such a sweet and loving little guy! He's what we call a "Velcro" dog - he wants to be near you and snuggle all the time, if you'll let him! He gets along with other dogs and used to live with quite a few of them. He can be bouncy and playful but has moved past the puppy energy stage, so he also knows how to mellow out and just cuddle on the couch with you. Renji enjoys his walks too, and imagines his new life strolling through the park with you! **Renji has a special behavioral need. He is possessive around food and needs to be fed away from any people or animals. This is why he cannot live with children, and can live with other pets only if their owner can carefully manage feeding time.** Name: Renji Location: Old City Adoption Center (All our dog meets are by appointment for approved adopters only.) Breed: Dachshund mix (Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label) Age: 6-10 years old Weight: 6 pounds Reason for surrender to shelter: Renji's owner had too many animals and surrendered them for adoption. If you are interested in meeting Renji, please email adoptions@phillypaws.org for an application. If you have questions, please email the above address or contact our adoption staff at 215-298-9680, ext. 16. Duke

    Breed: Chihuahua-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Duke looks like a German Shepherd that shrunk in the wash! He loves his toys and he loves it when you stroke his incredibly soft fur. Duke loves "his people" (and he chooses who they will be) and takes a while time to get used to strangers. Once he gets over his "OMG is that a leash?" excitement, Duke quiets down and walks nicely with you. He'll do best in a home that's not in a terribly busy area, and has enough space for him to run around and get out his excitable "zoomies!" He would be at his best in a quiet home with patient owners and no children or cats. We cat-tested Duke and he really wants to get along but he just gets so excited he doesn't know how! Duke could get along with other dogs his size with proper and slow introductions. Name: Duke Location: Grays Ferry Clinic (All our dog meets are by appointment for approved adopters only.) Breed: Chihuahua mix (Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label) Age: 2-4 years old Weight: 15 pounds Reason for surrender to shelter: Duke's owners were moving and couldn't take him with them. Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Bruce is a big couch potato, who LOVES snuggling, and positive human affection. This smart boy knows several commands, is mostly housebroken, and absolutely thrives on a good routine! He's bouncy and active and love to be your running buddy, and fetch has to be in his Top Favorite Things Forever list. This dog sounds amazing! Why is he still here?! You're probably asking yourself right now. Bruce is a very strong guy so he needs an adopter who is able to take him on walks. Bruce also would not do well in a city setting. Big dogs need some big space and Bruce gets very distracted on walks if a lot of people or animals are around. Due to his need for an adopter who can train him to work on his training foundation, it would be best for Bruce to go to a home as the only animal at this time. You can call PAWS staff to learn more about whether Bruce would be the guy for you! Name: Bruce Wayne Location: Grant Ave Adoption Center Breed: Pit mix (Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Check out Harley, a sleek and bouncy low-rider puppy. Hard to tell what Harley is - from the shoulders up, he looks like a lab and from the shoulders down, he looks like a very small Staffordshire mix. Harley has been living in a foster home where he is learning to play and be a puppy. Like any puppy, he needs house training and basic obedience training to make him the best pet he can be. Harley's foster dad says he is a natural lap dog whose favorite place is right under your chin. Harley is not a good candidate for a home with cats. He could live with older children. Harley definitely should have other dogs in his life to act as a good role model and who could also handle a bouncy puppy's energy. Here's a video of Harley enjoying the snow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH9Ycg4Wp7I&feature=youtu.be.
