Posted Breed: Bloodhound / Catahoula Leopard Dog. This beautiful baby girl is ready for her forever home. She looks Hound, however, she has Catahoula as well in her genes, so she has lots of energy and will need a person who has the time to devote in exercising her. Georgia loves toys! She is very spoiled and would like to live in the style she has become accustomed to. As of 4/28/17, she is 17 weeks young. Has already started on heartworm prevention, UTS on shots, will be microchipped, and spayed prior to adoption.

Posted Breed: Bloodhound. Howdy everyone! My name is Reggie, I'm an 11month old, 100lb, red bloodhound. I'm a big ole sucker for a nice open lap and head scratches. I love my other dog friends and the little tiny things people call cats too. I'm real friendly with kids although I do sometime knock em over on accident. I am great on a leash and enjoy my walks. My foster mom calls me a dope sometimes but I know that's out of love. I'd love a fenced in back yard to sniff around and I'd love for you to sniff around with me, people are my favorite after all. I'd really like my own family to love my slobbery, wrinkly, humongous self. Apply to adopt me at... http://diamonddogsrescue.com Adoption fee $400 To adopt this dog, please complete an Adoption Application. If you would like to foster dogs for us, please complete a Foster Application.

    Breed: Bloodhound

    Location: Washington, DC
Posted Breed: Bloodhound. Approximate Age: 2-3 years Approximate Weight/Size: 70+ lbs. I am an UNDERDOG because.... I am a hound mix! Hound breeds are very prominent in the rural south and usually the first to be euthanized at the shelter due to the overpopulation of this breed. Current Location? Foster in DC Needs a Home With Another Dog?: Unsure Needs a Fenced Back Yard?: Unsure Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Kids, Cats Special Needs Notes: Erik Northound is heartworm positive but Rural Dog Rescue will cover the treatment” Additional info: Erik Northound is an approximately 3 year old bloodhound who was surrendered by his/her owners when they could no longer care for him/her. His profile will be updated once we are able to learn more about him! Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrdr Foster Application: http://bit.ly/rdrfosterapp Mission Statement: Forever true to “The Underdog”, Rural Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in shelters who are often overlooked for adoption or rescue. We save the dogs who are at most risk of being euthanized: the hounds, the black dogs, the seniors, the sick and the broken. We make a commitment to reserve a minimum of 50% of the dogs we save to The Underdog. Root For The Underdog! Rural Dog Rescue's home base is in Washington, DC. We adopt to the Washington, DC metropolitan area to include Maryland and Northern Virginia. We support several high kill shelters that euthanize in 72 hours and whose kill rate is 70% or higher in rural areas of Virginia, West Virginia, North and South Carolina. Rural Dog Rescue also helps dogs in need in Washington, DC and Maryland. We are 100% volunteer and foster based and no salaries are paid. 100% of your donation and adoption fee goes to helping the dogs and cats of Rural Dog Rescue. Although we try to be as accurate as possible, Rural Dog Rescue cannot guarantee the breed or full-grown adult size of any of the dogs or puppies in its care. Because many of these dogs were found as strays or are the result of irresponsible, unplanned breeding, we do not know the dog's exact background and can only list breed and size by our best educated guess. If exact breed and size are important to you, please consider adopting a dog from a specific breed rescue - We want our dogs to be adopted by people who will love and care for them forever for who they are - no matter what breed and size they turn out to be! All dogs go to their new homes spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, wormed (although a 2nd worming may be required), started on heart worm and flea and tick preventative and sometimes microchipped. Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrdr Foster Application: http://bit.ly/rdrfosterapp Adoption Process: In order to adopt, we require an adoption application. After you submit an application, if you pass the screening, we will contact you to schedule a phone interview. We will call your references, including your veterinarian and landlord (when appropriate). We will also conduct a home visit. After these steps are complete, you will be approved to adopt a dog. Please note this process takes 1-2 weeks so applications submitted when you are ready to bring a dog home within that time frame. You can meet our adoptable dogs at events, however, we cannot guarantee that dogs at events do not have pre-approved applicants meeting them there as well, so the application is the best way to start the process. Breed: Bloodhound
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Ashland, WI
Posted Breed: Bloodhound (short coat). Lulu doing what a Bloodhound does best. - sniffing around, taking it all in! This squish face just turned 6 years old and is a purebred bloodhound. She is a very sweet, mild mannered pup looking for a quiet home with no kids under 12 years. In her previous home, she became very stressed when kids were running around and playing. It was just too much for this couch potato! She kennels well when necessary and would live peacefully with other laid back animals - her last home had a cat and they understood each other's need for napping. Come meet Lulu today! All dogs adopted from the Chequamegon Humane Association are spayed or neutered, rabies and distemper vaccinated, dewormed, micro-chipped, and tested for heart worm (results negative unless otherwise noted). A tax-deductible adoption fee of $120 is required for every dog under the age of 7, puppies are $150, and dogs over the age of 7 are $85.

    Barney

    Breed: Bloodhound
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: Yakima, WA
Posted Breed: Bloodhound (short coat). Please take the time to read the entire profile. We spend alot of time putting as much info in them as possible. Thank you in advance. Barney- Barney would love a home of his own. He loves to give someone sad puppy eyes and knows that he would do great in a home that would love him for the stubborn sniffer he is! Please help find this amazing guy a home! He is a great dog and really just keeps getting over looked. We adore the big lug and he would love a home where he can be the amazing dog we know he is. Barney is a sweet blood hound boy. He is amazing and he is huge but getting a little weight help as he came to us about 50 lbs over where he needed to be. He is a great dog and a stunning red fawn color with super floppy ears and face. He is a great dog who needs a home that will spend time with him and let him be part of the family. He is a great dog and we adore him. He is shy at first as he was mostly and outside dog who was not given any rules or training. It seems him and his brother were just left in a back yard for 90% of the time. No one did anything with them so they didnt know how to be part of the family. He is a blood hound and they can be a bit stubborn, to say it nicely. So he needs a family that can love him through his stubborn-ness. Barney has been in rescue for so long and really wants a home of his own. Barney came to us from his past owner. He had purchased him and his brother from a breeder. Sadly as they grew the dogs were no longer allowed in their house and they were banished to outside. These two became bonded to each other and were never trained. When the family decided that it was time to get them into a different home Barneys brother went to a home, and he did not. He was depressed with out him and confused. A big dog with no training is hard to find a home for. He is going to need a home that can keep working with him like we have. He has learned to be a bully in his old home as his owners method for training was if he misbehaved to just leave him alone. So barney was never told to do anything! Barney is a great dog. He is happy go lucky and loves to have a good time. He is a charmer and we adore the big lug. But he is timid at first with new people and situations as he never knew anything but his own back yard and brother. He would love a family to show him the rest of the world is not a bad situation and that he can be a happy go lucky guy. He loves to cuddle and be a great dog. He just needs a chance to see the world for what it is. He has had such a bad run so far he deserves so much better. He does best in a home with no small kids and can be protective over food with other dogs. He does great with them as long as they are not fed together. He will need a home experienced with a pushy larger dog. As he is used to getting his way and can be a bully if you do not have firm rules. He is a great dog and everything a bloodhound is ment to be, however he will need a good owner to show that. He would do amazing in a hound experienced home. Barney is up to date, dewormed, flea treated and has been altered. He is a happy healthy guy with no known health issues other then being a little over weight. We adore his happy jiggly self. He doesn’t seem to have any health issues that we have seen and is a happy healthy guy. As with all blood hounds he needs someone who can keep on top of his ears being cleaned and drool wiped up. He is a charmer. He is house broken, crate trained and does ok on leash. He does need walked in a training collar of or will pull. He is a great dog. He will guard food so a home with out small kids or he has to be fed away from them. He is a great boy who needs a good home and would love a family who would help him. We spend a lot of time trying to get to know the dogs in our program as best as we can. This means that we have spent time introducing them to dogs, cats, kids, animals, people and as many things as we can. We try to do as much as we can to evaluate them, both with in our group and if the dogs come from other rescues or shelters their evaluations as well. However dogs are individuals and will react to different situations differently. This means that we do not know how a dog will react in every situation. We give out our best guess based off information provided but the handler of a dog and the way they are introduced to a situation makes a huge impact. So if you have any questions of how to introduce a dog to your home, please let us know and we will provide as much info as we can from pamphlets to helping find a trainer in your area. Our rescue aims to help dogs who are passed by and over looked by most rescues and people. We help the dogs who are in need of medical care, vetting, training and breeds that most will not help with. In most shelters if you are large dog, a big dog, or a male dog; from the moment you walk in you are on barrowed time. If you have docked ears or are a guardian breed your time was over before you walked in the doors. We aim to save these dogs and give them a second chance. Please help us save more lives by helping with our medical bills as they grow. This year has already been hard and we have many medical dogs in need. https://www.gofundme.com/v2eap2f8 If you would like to adopt this pet please send us an email. Applications will be sent to you via email. We do our best to get back to emails in 24 hrs. If it has been longer then that please resend another email. We would love to hear from you. We welcome any questions that you may have. Our goal is to find the right fit for every home, not just any home! We have been informed that some of the links to email us regarding our adoptable dogs are not working. This has been on going for a few weeks with petfinder and a few other links. If you find this to be an issue that you are having please send an email directly to us at: RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com If you are inquiring on a specific pet we do ask that you put the name of the pet in the subject line. So we know who it is that you are inquiring regarding. Thank you in advance for understanding as we work through this. As with any rescue we are always in need of donations. MANY of our dogs come in with special needs or medical issues. These need to be resolved before going home. If you would like to make a donation toward a dogs medical care you can use our paypal address RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com you can also email us for a physical address. We are always in need of dog food, soft food for some of our special needs dogs, collars, leashes, crates, and toys!
