Lhasa-Poo

The Lhasa-Poo is a mix between the Lhasa Apso and the Poodle. These dogs can have the temperament of either breed. Some do better with families with children than others.

Poochon

The Poochon is a combination of the Bichon Frise and the Poodle. They can have the characteristics of either of the parent breeds. Since both breeds make good pets, the Poochon should also make a good companion.

The Chiweenie is a mix between the Chihuahua and a Dachshund. This mix makes a good pet in homes with older or no children.

The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Bull-Pei are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed.
