Mutt

A mongrel, mixed-breed dog

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

Mastiff

The Mastiff is a gentle dog, despite his striking size and appearance. He makes a great watch dog and loyal companion. This dog develops enduring bonds with his family and is best suited to living in the country or suburbs where he can have lots of space.

Chiweenie

The Chiweenie is a mix between the Chihuahua and a Dachshund. This mix makes a good pet in homes with older or no children.

French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is low key and enjoys lots of activity. He's well suited for either family living or attaching to just one special person. He can be a great watchdog, although will bark only when there is a real need.

The Shiba Inu is a quiet and reserved dog indoors, but loves to romp and play in the great outdoors. He's a jumper, even able to catch birds, and often washes his face with paws ' like a cat!

The Golden Labrador is a mix between the Golden Retriever and the Labrador Retriever. This breed is an excellent companion for most families.

The Akita was developed to hunt bears in Japan and, as such, is a great guard dog. They're strong and loyal, often employed by police for active duty.

The Great Dane is a huge dog with a sweet and gentle nature. He needs a lot of space for exercise, though he can be very calm and well-behaved indoors.

Border-Aussie

The Border-Aussie is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Border Collie. The Border-Aussie is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Australian Shepherd and a Border Collie. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Border-Aussie are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Cairn Terrier

The Cairn Terrier is a small dog, but ready to rumble. He likes a lot of exercise, but is suitable for both city and country living. He's independent, but very loyal and loveable for the right family.
